Brandon Styll and Tony Galzin (Nicky's Coal Fired) reconvene in studio for week nine of the Nashville Restaurant Radio fantasy football league, a season-long fundraiser for The Giving Kitchen. They run through the league standings, where Howe Holdenbeck is running away in first while Tony sits at two and six despite respectable point totals. The two break down the Titans' situation after Will Levis' four-touchdown debut, arguing the team should focus on developing Levis and young players rather than chasing a playoff push that Jacksonville has likely locked up.
They preview the week's marquee games (Dolphins-Chiefs in Germany, Cowboys-Eagles, Bills-Bengals on Sunday Night Football) and walk through every head-to-head matchup in the league, including Brandon's game against Alex Ballew and Tony's tiebreaker showdown with Tandy Wilson. Brandon shares that he'll be at the Bears-Saints game in New Orleans, his first NFL game outside Nissan Stadium.
The back third veers into childhood sneaker stories: Brandon's prized Jordan Vs and Tony's traumatic LA Gear Street Hikers, the Joe Montana endorsed shoes his mom made him wear to junior high. They close with baseball memories, including Brandon's regret over trading away a 1989 All-Star Game ball signed by Cal Ripken, Kirby Puckett, and Tony Gwynn for a box of Shaquille O'Neal rookie cards.
"It was no different the other week. I prepare every week like I'm going to play, because it's no different. I prepare every week like I'm getting in the game."
Tony Galzin (paraphrasing Will Levis), 09:00
"I'm not talking shit, but you're two and six. So maybe zag. Whatever your first instinct is, bail on that, because it hasn't worked."
Tony Galzin, 27:44
"I street hiked my ass to the bus stop and got ridiculed."
Tony Galzin, 46:09
"If you go back and pause the footage of Bo Jackson's home run, you can see me, a nine year old self right there."
Brandon Styll, 54:00
00Yeah, here we go. We two weeks in a row, two weeks in a row in studio. We did it. The Nashville restaurant radio fantasy football league podcast. I am Brandon still, and I am joined with Tony gals. And what's up, man? The league is heating up. It's really good right now. I would say if you are following this, uh, you know, my team sucks. Um, it's not great. It's not my record sucks. My team, I think is pretty good. Your team's okay. You know what though? I think we'll, we'll get into some stuff, but I think, I think Cincinnati is right at the ship. Oh yeah. I mean, they beat, they stomped San Francisco and San Francisco is kind of reeling a little bit, but they're still a good team, but like Burrow looked like all is right in Cincinnati. I'm like, okay, he's back.
00He's not injured. It's looking good. That's good for your, we still got like five weeks to make a push for the plaster. How many weeks? It's 14 total weeks before. So I think before the playoffs, you're still in play here. I think I'm still in play because the rest of the league is pretty tight. Yeah. Except how was running away with, with one. Yes, he is. He's really taken just running away. I went head to head last week and didn't, didn't do so good. I rabbit hunted ahead and I play you in two weeks. Oh, we do. Yeah. Oh, nice. So we got to, we got to think of a bet, something fun and exciting for our bet. Uh, yeah. League standings right now. How Holden beach number one, seven and one killing it. Running away with it. Uh, team number two, team Goldberg, Max Goldberg, six and two team. Number three is Alyssa again, Jerry, the Chrysantra virtual calls. She is a five and three.
01So one, two, and three are standalone one, two, and three. Right. That is your goal. Five and three, because she beat me by 0.8 points three weeks ago. I'll never forget it. At least you're not salty. At least the thing, at least I don't bring it up, you know, fourth place is going to be tied for three people are tied for fourth place that is Tandy Wilson, Hurricane Detka, which is you and Naima Walker. Fierce are tied for fourth place at four and four. And me and Tandy are playing each other this week. So there will be a tiebreaker. So, okay. So that's great. That's good. I like that. And then in seventh place, we have, um, Pat Martin and Alex blue are tied at three and that's moving up. He's moving up. He was in last place two weeks ago and now he's, well, he beat me. I would, I think he beat me by four points last week and Darren Waller when I had one point, he went out in the first quarter. So, I mean, if Waller would have played that game, I guess, and he's out, he's out now for weeks.
01So I had to pick up Kyle Pitts. I mean, I don't, there's nobody else available. I wish they would throw him the ball. It'd be great if they threw them. Well, they've been throwing the ball more to him. Typically you can get more receiving yards if they throw you the ball. That's one of those John Madden things. You know, if they throw you the ball, you can, uh, you can definitely get more receiving yards when they throw you the ball and you catch it. You know, the receiver with the most yards at the end of the game has caught the most passes. Yes. There you go. You got that. You're it's a, it's a weird team to watch. Atlanta's there. It's just weird. It's weird to watch. I'm in last place. Um, and I will tell you, I'm in last place, but I have, you're not actually by points. So they break it down, but I have more points than Alex. I have more points than Brian Baxter. I have more points than Naima. I'm two points away from you. Yeah. You're in your points scored. You've just gone again. Yeah. You've just had really bad. I mean, like my team isn't terrible. I mean, and Joe Burrow, the first, if Joe Burrow and Jamar chase the first couple of weeks would have done anything, I think I'd be in a different, but they're heating up and here we go.
09That's what I'm saying. And I'm, it's, I'm two and five, right? Is that what the score is? That what I'm at two and six, but if I win the next four weeks, I could be, I could be six and six. There's 14 weeks. So I could be. Well, how many more weeks do we have? There's eight. So we have six more weeks. I could be eight and six. Anything can happen. I could still make the playoffs. One, two, three, four, five. Yeah. We're in week nine and there's 14 total weeks. So this week and then five more. So yeah. Six. I mean, I could be eight and six if I can run out the rest of this, but now last night I had San Francisco's defense. I picked up the Titans defense cause I'm like, Hey, they're playing Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh ain't great. But I got zero points and Alex had King Henry who got the only touchdown for the Titans. Yeah. So he's at like 20 points. So I'm, I'm starting off in a deficit. You're starting in a deficit. I'm actually starting. Okay. Cause I don't know who Tandy had, uh, but he, he must've picked up and put in well, Levis or will love us. Um, which got under nine points. So that kind of bumped up my win probability.
12Yeah, you did. He got eight points, six, eight points. Well, so let's, I wanted to talk about this. We're going to take a pause. We've gone through the standings. Yeah. Last week, since last week, the Titans have played twice. Yes. Realized that. I mean, last week we did this on Friday and I went on this long diatribe about why the Titans just need to start playing other people and we were like, well, we'll see what happens if we'll love us. Dude came out like just an absolute stud all Sunday. I mean, I, I, I was like, I have hope now. Here's a stat though that I, that I heard. So he had four touchdowns. Yes. In his debut, NFL debut, only two other quarterbacks of all time. Do you know Fran Tarkington and, uh, our other quarterback, Marcus Mario Mariotta like, Oh, Oh, that's either that's, that's quite a boomer bust hall of fame or out of the league. Yeah. Well, he looks different than Mariotta though. He, he doesn't, he doesn't take off. He doesn't. His first instinct isn't, uh, he's a pocket passer.
12He's trying to, he's trying to throw. He's trying to push the ball down. And it, in general, it looks like he was making good decisions. We started to chat before the podcast and we're like, let's just record this. But so I was at a show, so I was kind of following the stats along and then I got home and got to watch the fourth quarter. And it didn't look like he was making bad decisions until the defense, until it was that final drive, less than two minutes and your only plays are passes over 20 yards, you know? So everyone knows. And that's when he eventually threw a pick. But he didn't look that bad throughout. Well, throughout the game, I didn't get to watch the last, I didn't get to watch the four touchdown performance. I watched the highlights and I went back and watched the game recap. And he, the throws look great. I thought that, um, it was great to see a Titan throw the ball down the field. Yeah. I'll tell you that much. Cause it's these little dink and dunk passes and then Henry and Spears, like to see them throw the ball down the field is really cool. And then watching last night, I watched the entire game last night and his arm strength is phenomenal.
14That was his, always this thing in college that dude, he can sling it, but like accurate and he was dropping little, just like straight down, like last game, last game, not, not there's not this. No, he was doing that last night too. I mean, there was a, there was a third and 23 that Hopkins did this little stutters. He kind of waited and then took off and he hit Hopkins. There was about a 12 inch window. He could have thrown that ball and he just right in the breadbasket. And Hopkins went for 29 yards. And on his two, he was standing in the end zone, third and 23 and dude connected. There was another third and 13 that he had, I think Phillips on that was just a beautiful pass off his back foot, throwing the other way and at 25 yard pass. Typically doesn't have the best pocket either. Like the, the O line is pretty, you're going against what to, I mean, he was getting, he got sacked like five times last night and just popped right back up. First play of the game was a TJ watt had a, um, roughing the passer. But I mean, he got drilled, popped right back up.
16Like I said, I didn't see any snaps until the fourth quarter. No, his poise in the pocket was great. Plus I, you know, I like after he throws a big play, he runs up to the receiver and is like, fuck yeah, man. Like he's right. Yeah. Like I, the word that I use was moxie. I feel like he's got moxie. He's got this. He does got a little, it's not like a, a swag. It's not like Joe burrow where he's just like, seems cocky, but he just seems like he's a foot, like he's ready to get hit and jump back up. And he's like, ready to like run down, downfield and celebrate. Right. Yeah. He just like, doesn't look scared. He doesn't like, you know, I'm gonna tell you, I like that swag. It's somewhere in between. There was an interview with him. There was an interview with him after the game and they said, well, what was it like this week preparing, knowing you're the starting quarterback? And he goes, it was no different the other week. He goes, I prepare every week. Like I'm going to play because it's no different. Like I prepare every week, like I'm getting in the game. And I was like, that's our guy right there, man.
17That just, that comment of, well, it's great. You know, I mean, getting into the first reps, the first team, you know, it was great, you know, like, no, I prepare. So what do you think real quick? Cause this could be an hour discussion. What is this team doing? Cause I mean, they got rid of it. So going back to, I guess two years ago, now that AJ Brown has set the NFL record for consecutive games with 125 yards, a game in a row, he's at six. So he beat Megatron. It's like, that doesn't look good. And then Bayard who's by far the best defensive player we've had in a decade. He's good. I think he's the third rated like safety in football. And basically what'd we get fifth, fourth, we talking about fourth. We got a lot of cap space that we got, but then they're like, in the Derek Henry is untouchable. I mean, they're going to keep them. This is when it's good because like this time of year, Derek Henry starts heating up and that is a rookie quarterbacks. Best friend is a good run game. Titans. I here's the thing at the end of that game last night, fourth and 13 or third and 13 or they're trying to throw it.
19They throws it, the pick in the end zone. I didn't care. I didn't carry that. It wasn't a, we need to win this one. We ain't, we're not winning the Superbowl. Yeah, we're not, we're not making the playoffs. The, the Jacksonville Jaguars are much better. Their records much better. They're starting to kind of round out. Yeah. I mean, Etienne is a beast. I mean, they're, they're, uh, Lawrence is heating up. Like they're, we're not going to catch them. We're not going to make the playoffs this year. Right. We get love as reps. We get him comfortable in the pocket and we start developing our team. This is the same game plan I talked about last week. I didn't care if we win or lose. Let's get this guy some experience. Let's get him in the game. I mean, those, the people he was throwing the ball to last night were Phillips and more, I mean, he didn't throw that many balls. I mean, Hopkins caught a few trail on Burks, got two passes yesterday. And it wasn't like he just relied on his number one receivers. Did he get knocked out at the end of the game? Knocked out. He, he walked, he didn't go to the hospital. He walked out of the locker room under his own power last night. I mean, he was okay.
20It was always we left the show and then I put it on my phone. Cause I have like YouTube TV on my phone. So in the Uber home, I'm watching it and I'm like talking to Carolina. And while I'm talking, I'm like, Oh, I think he's knocked out. Yeah. He was out. Yeah. It was, it was, it was a scary moment for sure. But I think after the game, he did not go to the hospital. He was awake. He was alert and he walked out under his own power. So that it's a good, I don't, I don't think he, he's not going to be playing anytime soon, but as far as the Titans are concerned, I think we continue to develop our young players and we get game time reps, like you can try and win. Sure. I mean, cool if you win, but I don't care if we win. I would rather see Levis get the snaps. I'd rather see the players get playing time, learn the system, learn the playbook, all that stuff. It's like extended practice. Yeah. And then Jacksonville is rounding out. That's, that's not to say they're not catchable. If, if we get, if we can feel the squad, that's like competitive right now, there's just like too much inexperience on, you know, with, with the, with this, I mean, it's a second start ever.
22And so now we've got some like new people leading defense as well. But I think you're right with reps, like Jacksonville is not that far ahead. They're not that far. Pittsburgh's not a good team. I mean, you look at what Kenny Pickett was throwing last night. And are they in first place in the, I don't know, but I mean, he was, he was missing receivers right and left pickets, their running game, their backup runner was running all over us. I mean, our defense just isn't good. We're not going to stop an elite team. If we have an elite team out there, I mean, watch what, look what happened when the Bengals came in. I mean, they just smoked us and that was Joe Burrows. Like, okay, let's go. I mean, you get a good team with a really good offense. We can't stop them. And so, I mean, we need to develop our defense. We need to, we need to develop our offensive line getting sacked five times. We'll love us and get hurt. I mean, we don't need that. I mean, they did pick, I mean, they got Skoronsky was their first pick that offensive tackle out of Northwestern this year. So they're addressing the line. I think that was good. It's, it's good. And he got hurt last night, but I mean, you know, it's been the second time he's been hurt this year. Yeah. Well, he, he, I don't think he'd still play, but he came out of the game.
24He was down for a little bit and they had to take him out of the game. I'm taking a sip of coffee here on air. No problem. I do that all the time. All right. So let's talk about delicious frothy monkey. I'll give a shout out to our neighbors. Frothy monkey. Yes. It's a symbiotic relationship. I think it's a good time to give a shout out. Last time we had to the very end, I will tell you this whole league is done for the giving kitchen. Uh, the giving kitchen is an amazing organization that helps restaurant workers. So if you're out there and you are a leader in a restaurant, if you work in a restaurant, you're just listening to this and you need help. They're here to help giving kitchen.org is how you get ahold of them. You can request help. If you've broken your ankle and you can't work and you've got medical bills and what do I do? I'm going to lose my house. Well, they will come in and help you. You can apply for a grant and they will come in and help restaurant workers at first hand. Yeah. It's really an amazing thing. So we're doing this league to help promote the giving kitchen, to let people know about the giving kitchen. Uh, our sponsor for the league is super source. Jason Ellis of our super source is an amazing guy.
28And when I told him about this, he was like, dude, I want to sponsor it. Let's go. And so if you need dish, machine and chemicals, uh, there's some really big companies out there that are, will charge you way too much money and make you sign a seven year contract. And he does not, he says no contracts. And it's week to week. He has to earn your business every week. And he does that. Everybody that uses, everybody that comes into the studio sees the super source stuff in here and it's like, dude, I love that guy. And he, and he has, he's, he's just that guy. First thing I say is like, no, I'd love to help me on this go. Nice. I mean, he's just happy to help. So one to get those things out there because that is why we're here. If you're listening to this and you're like, this is not Nashville restaurant radio. It is Nashville restaurant radio, but these are just jump in and then we get lost in the sauce. You got to, we got to. Yeah. And if you don't know Tony over here, uh, he is the owner, co-owner him and his wife, Caroline own Nikki's coal fired in the, uh, in the nations. Yeah. So like I was just saying frothy monkey. So next door, it's a good, like I say, it's very good symbionic. It's because, you know, they're very busy. They're open during the day. And so people that are coming over there that are coming to work, that are, you know, coming to get coffee, get breakfast or whatever, when we're not open, then they see us and they're like, oh, the only thing that could be better is if maybe there was like a dispensary next to us.
41So you get really stoned and then you're like pizza place right next door. But besides that frothy monkey is like the ideal companions. Let's talk about some of the matchups this week. Let's do it. Oh, we can talk about the matchups. Um, did you lose last week? I did. I think I called that last week. You did here. Let me go back really quick and look, I go back to eight scoreboard week eight. So, oh man, not only did I lose, I got fucking smoked dude, 96 to 147. That might be like the biggest. I don't know. That's my biggest defeat of the year. Yeah. I think I had a hundred and 22.5 points last week again. So we were saying, I was just talking about AJ Brown. So he had a H a Brown who scored 33 points, uh, two, I had a good game. And then just my guys that they didn't have Tony Pollard had six points, six points, man, just like, uh, my best player was Breeze hall. So when that's, when that's happening, when your best player is on the jets and they scored 13 points to win in overtime, not great.
47So this is a, I'm really excited about week nine in football, not only for the fans thing, but as a fan, cause there's three matchups this week that I am absolutely pumped about big games. First of all, we have dolphins and chiefs. That is at eight 30 AM on Sunday morning in Germany, but dolphins and chiefs, you want to talk about high powered offenses, man, that's going to be a fun one. If you got Tyreek Hill, uh, to a tag of Aloha, he's going to be a stud where what's your, what's your, what's your gut on that? I like who's going to win that game. I always pick the chiefs. You think it's a bounce back game? Cause they looked pretty bad against Denver, but I think it's a bounce back game, I think for sure. I think they're Germany had the flu. Yeah. I think Kelsey, uh, my homes, Pacheco, my homes is just, he's, I've never going to bet against him. He's, he's just one of those guys that comes out and he can personally take the game. Everybody loses some Jordan misses some shots, but eventually he's going to ride in that horse.
51You're, you're good. I think, I think also it's a trap game. I think when you go into a game against the, uh, the Broncos and you think we're playing the Broncos, we're going to win. Maybe, maybe you think you're going to win going in and you don't prepare. I think this game going to Germany on the world stage in the morning against a quality team, they're going to be up, they're going to be ready. They're going to game plan. They're going to execute. Is there another Germany game now? Is it the following week? There is another one, not tomorrow, but there isn't one. Oh, the next week. Oh, okay. So dolphins chiefs I'm super excited about. And then we have two other games that I'm like pretty pumped about Sunday afternoon, we're watching the Cowboys and Eagles, another couple of high powered defenses, as well as offenses. I mean, you've got the Cowboys and Eagles defenses are both top five defenses, I believe. And then you've got. Dak Prescott, CD lamb, Pollard would love to see Pollard do something. But again, you know, Paula going up against a tough Eagles defense.
54And then you've got the Eagles with Jalen hurts Deandre Swift. And can you make it seven weeks in a row? AJ Brown, I mean, is an absolute stud. And they also have Devante. I'm sorry, not Devante. Who am I thinking about? Who's the other wide receiver over in Eagles? Yeah. Devante Smith. Devante Smith. Okay. I was thinking, I couldn't say Devante without Adams, Devante Smith. I mean, they've got it and Dallas Goddard. I mean, they've got a good, you never know though. Okay. So I wanted to point out, I had this, I had this thought. So our last show, we were talking about, uh, the Thursday game, cause we recorded the podcast last Thursday and there was Tampa Bay, Buffalo, Buffalo won and we were just like, all right, who's, who's going to win this game. And exactly you were like, they're going to have to throw, um, you know, Dalton Kincaid is, is up now. Uh, Stefan digs going to have a huge game. And we were both like, they're going to have to do those. Yeah. They're like, who they're like, what if they're just throwing to Khalil Shakir, they can't win, they can't win.
57You know, the highest receiver, Khalil Shakir, he killed it. Kalish and Gabe Davis scored a touchdown and Dalton Kincaid did. Yeah, he did. Everyone that we mentioned, that's just like, all right, you know, they have to really lean on their superstars this week and they just did all the role players. So you never know, but that's the NFL for you. And then the other game we're watching this week is of course bears at saints, cause I will be there. Oh, wow. Really? I'm in New Orleans this Sunday in the, at the superdome. Hell yeah. That's exciting. It's interesting. So it'll be Tyson Bajan again, week three. But for me, that's a noon game. So I don't know your average person wouldn't know this, but when the Chicago bears won the super bowl, their only super bowl in 1985, it was at the New Orleans superdome. So it's like Mecca for me. I did not know that it's going back. It's going back to maybe the only time it'll ever happen in my life. How old were you when that happened? Eight, eight years old. So you were 77, 77, 77.
59Yeah. You're two years older than me. Yeah. So it'll be good though. I've never been, I've never been to an NFL game besides soldier field. Yeah. I've never been to like another, oh, I'm sorry, but in, in, in Titan state, I'm like, you've never been to, I've been to Titans. What's it called? Nice Nissan stadium. All right. Yeah. When, when it was first LP, what was it before LP? Adelphia, Adelphi, Adelphia, Adelphia, that's right. I see him. That's right. Delphia. Yeah. Coliseum. That's right. That's what it opened as Adele because it was in, yeah, as the Titans. It's like a Titans reference. It's like a Greek reference. Is that the, no, no, that was a, it was a brand. Oh, it was. Yeah. Adelphia. It's like a tech brand. I believe Adelphia Coliseum. And then there was, then it was LP field and then Nissan stadium. I don't know. We knew one of the airlines like what's LP. I'm like, I think it's sugar. It's building materials, whatever. That's why you do it. You want people to figure out who you are. So either way, I'll be at the Mercedes Benz Superdome. The game of the week for me is going to be Sunday night football. We've got the Bills at Bengals and that is going to be good.
05That's what I'm saying. We got three big matchups this Sunday. The real question is, am I going to be coherent to watch the second to pay attention at seven 20 in New Orleans after? I mean, yeah, it's a noon game. You figure I'm going to start drinking it nine. The answer is, is you shouldn't be. I, I, I, I'm really, I got, I'm going to pace it. Day drinking into night drinking is never a good idea. If you're listening out there, day drinking into night drinking without a nap, not good. You've got, you've got a day drink and then sleep for like three, four hours. I feel like the nap throws you off. You just got to, you got to take a siesta, man. You can't power, you're, you can't power through. You got to come on, man. You're a pro, right? You're a pro. You got to, you got to take the siesta. You got to rest it off. Go back for round two. You try and power through it. I just go through, I just power. Oh, I'll just go. I'll switch to like, just like red bull or diet Coke for a few rounds and get some caffeine and we get in trouble. Yeah. So that Bill's bangles game, I think Josh Allen is playing.
05I think he got hurt last week, but he is going to play, um, cook is going to play in since either favored by two since he's favored by two. Yeah. I mean, Burroughs hot as fire right now. And Jamar chase is catching 12 passes a game. T Higgins is healthy. Uh, Boyd is, you know, a player that's catching touchdowns every other week. Joe Mixon is a hell of a play this week. I think that that game is going to have some serious fireworks and national stage Sunday night. And weird Cincinnati fans get up, man. Yeah, I think like that's how fast they, they can turn it on. So really right. I mean, as evidenced by your fantasy numbers, there's Joe Perot and Jamar chase, but I'm looking at offensive rankings, total yards. Uh, Cincinnati's 31st passing yards. They're 23rd. That's bottom two thirds points. They're 23rd. That's bottom two thirds, but just like, but you look at those numbers, you're like, this team can't put up any points.
06Well, the first three weeks they didn't, but you know, that's just like, they can switch it so good, like so fast. Well, they're healthy. They're healthy now. It's all plus they're a slow starter every year. That's first three games. That's a real fact. I like to lull their competition to speed numbers. They're like a really good predator. So I had a preseason. That was a preseason bet. I put 50 on, um, Cincinnati to win the super bowls plus a thousand. So it pays $500. I bet you could do that. And now I'm feeling good after week two, when that, when that, it wasn't like, it went to like plus 1300. It was like after week two every year, but now it's back, but now they're sort of, they're back to like, so I'm looking, okay, I'm still, I'm still sitting on that, that bet. I'm not going to sell it. Well, let's go over the matchups this week that we have. Um, I'm playing Alex Ballew. He's got my homes. I've got Burrow. He's got Henry. I've got Josh Jacobs who didn't look too bad then. But Josh Jacobs has a pretty advantageous matchup against the giants. I feel like he sucks this year.
07He hasn't been great. He's it's, I think he's a, he's coming up. He's one of those guys too. I've got Gabe Davis starting over. He has Odell Beckham Jr. I think I should be okay there. Uh, Darren Waller is out. Here's what I'll say though. Are you, you've got Josh Jacobs. Here's what I'll say. So they fired their coach. McDaniel's got fired. Josh, Josh, he got fired, got fired. Oh, I got a second team that he's been fired mid year. He got fired at Broncos, Broncos mid year. Um, so that's bad, but I feel like there's a thing when an interim coach comes in, they always. If they don't win, I feel like don't they always win for that interim coach on that first week? Whenever there's like a shakeup, everyone gets fired up. I feel like if you've got some, and plus New York giants are just the biggest dumpster fire. So I feel like if you have anyone on Vegas, this is the time to plug them in. So you're looking, Oh, but Waller's out. Well, I got pits in, put them in. Here's my question for you. Here's my start set for the week.
09Uh, Gabe Davis against Cincinnati Sunday night projected 12.9 points. Or do you start a Mari Cooper against Arizona? I go Arizona. I think they're going to run the score up. Who's our quarterback throwing to him? Is Watson back? Cause a PJ Walker's throwing the ball. I think it's still PJ Walker. He isn't, Cooper's got like two passes a week with PJ Walker throwing, but Gabe Davis could have a monster night. He could, Gabe Davis catch a 60 yard pass. No problem. He could catch one pass. No problem. He could catch eight passes. He is a roll of the dice. Yeah. And he doesn't score. He scores three or 30. All these wide receiver to wide receiver three. It's just like such a, but Arizona is so down right now. And, and they're, who's their quarter. So they, uh, Hobbs went to Minnesota to cause Kirk Cousins is out now ACL tear. So their starting quarterback is whoever they drafted.
11It's not Kyler Murray. He's still not playing. He's a week or two away. So it's a, it's a, so if you can go pick up Kyler Murray on the waiver, where he will be starting in the next two weeks. Yeah. I wouldn't play anyone from Arizona. Well, that's what I'm saying to Mario Cooper gave it. I'm going to, I've got Gabe Davis in the lineup right now. Cause he's projected an extra point. He's projected 12.9 versus 11.9. I don't know who's throwing the ball to Mario Cooper, but Mario Cooper's had two bad weeks in a row. He's ready to, to burst. So I imagine he's, I'm just saying, I'm not talking shit, but you're two in six. So maybe Zag, whatever your, whatever your first instinct is bail on that. Cause it hasn't worked. Yes. All right. Um, good, good points. Good points. Uh, I'm projected 119.7 to Alex Ballou's one 12.2. I'm picking myself. He's got my homes, uh, presumably healthy. Burrow is healthy and tends to kill at home in the cold weather.
14And I'm playing against, and if you match them up, uh, he's got, uh, Damien Pierce against my Kenneth Walker, the third Jordan Addison versus Jamar Chase. I'll take mine on that one. He's got Odell Beckham Jr. Versus Gabe Davis. That might be even, but Odell Beckham Jr. hasn't done anything this year. No, and you've got two Baltimore. He has two Baltimore receivers. Yeah. So Mark Andrews is a, is a better pick than Kyle Pitts, but then Pacheco versus Thielen Thielen's been crushing it. And then kickers I think are, are even match, but, uh, his defense Cleveland could do much better than my defense. I mean, we'll see. I, I, I'm going to pick myself on this one. Cause I, I, I'm do a win. I think you're do a win. I think burrows really, I think like that burrow chase, you could have like 60 points between the two of them. So the next teams are Alyssa Gangerian, Chris Santraversal calls. Alyssa is the partner over at the buttermilk ranch. And we've got team Goldberg, Max Goldberg, obviously him and his brother, Benjamin own strategic hospitality. And these are two ballers in our league.
17These guys are what? Second and third place. This is the Bill's Bengals matchup. This is a big, this is a big matchup right here. Yeah. Uh, you got two rookie quarterbacks against other CJ Stroud versus, um, Oh, who did he have to sit? Uh, Trevor Lawrence. Oh, Trevor Lawrence is bi-week. Okay. Yeah. So he's got Trevor Lawrence on a bi-week and then he's got Kay Makers who is a, I think getting a lot more of the snap share in Minnesota. Yeah. But he's still not the number one guy. Madison's your number one guy. So I would take DeAndre Swift over him in a heartbeat. For sure. Zach Moss, Chuba Hubbard, they went, this is a big bi-week for them. Then you got Tyreek Hill versus Jalen Waddle. Waddle's kind of had a down year. Oh yeah. Cause you got Hill, they're throwing the ball to Hill every day. A lave versus DeAndre Hopkins. I'm going to take a lave on this one because Chicago's defense is porous. You'll watch that one in person. He's going to light it up. Uh, Gerald Everett versus, uh, David Njoku.
18Njoku's questionable again, again, who's throwing him the ball. We don't know. PJ Walker, but a lot of times it's like the, you know, tight end can be like a good weapon for a receiver that's just trying to dink and dunk. Uh, this, I love their flex options. Puka, Nakua, and Keenan Allen. Like those are two wide receiver ones that are their flex options. Yeah. And then you got Las Vegas' defense against the Giants and the Giants defense against Las Vegas. It's going to be a fun matchup to watch. That is a real turd fest. Um, she's tough. She has, uh, DK Metcalf on the bench. Maybe she hasn't set up a real lineup because I'd put Metcalf in there. I'm sure. Oh, well, I mean, Hill or a lave or Nakua. Like, I don't know if you know, I think you got to leave them. Yeah. I'm going to go with, I'm going to go with Alyssa on this one. All right. Uh, I am too. I think Alyssa is going to pull this win out. She's projected 60% over 40% team Holden Bache over team Fierce. How Holden Bache from Loughlin table and Naima Walker Fierce, uh, who is Germantown pub, uh, team Holden Bache is, it's 135.
24That team is stacked, man. And that, that AJ Brown pick was a really good one. When your guy's getting 30 points a week, you, it's hard to beat when you got a guy that's done that six straight weeks. I mean, what do you do? Uh, plus Alvin Kamara was a great pickup in the draft cause he didn't play for five games and now he's on fire. Going good. Reem Mostert's been an amazing, I mean, gosh, he's got Tua and Jalen Hurts. Tua at Kansas city, but it's in Germany. Germany. What's the playing field? Grass turf. I don't know. What's the weather like? I don't know. I don't know either. I don't know. We're, we're, we're really good at this stuff. How does a Hawaiian play in Germany? I don't think there's any precedent. We don't know. I don't, yeah, I don't, there's, I don't think it's ever happened before, but I don't know if that's even a thing. I don't think that's even a thing. I'm trying, I'm trying to just like really deep dive into all the analytics here. How does, you know, the, I'm going to pick how on this one. I'm going to say how runs away with, he's going to, he's going to roll. He's going to keep rolling. Yeah, he, he is. I mean, but man, just his bench is pretty freaking good.
27He's got Tyler Lockett on the bench, Najee Harris on the bench last night with 15.6 points. Here's where he may run into trouble is the playoffs and the finals are played during the last couple of weeks of the season. He's got a bunch of superstars on teams that are definitely getting one seeds and they may be rusting. That's a true story. That may be the time to, that, but, but as of right now, he's rolling, he's killing it. We have Pat Martin versus Brian Baxter this week. Uh, Pat Martin and Brian Baxter that somebody will climb out of the cellar here again. Yes. Uh, Pat is, is projected 116.1 points and Brian is scheduled 111.7 points. He probably needs to put in Joe Mixon, I imagine, but man, there's some good players he's got on the bench. Yeah, everybody's got some good players on the bench. Uh, he's got, he's got, uh, uh, Josh Allen and he's going up against Baker Mayfield. I give the Pat Martin for sure on that one. Yeah. Ramondra Stevenson and, uh, Cook for James Cook for, um, I don't know about Ramondra.
31Like they keep Mac is, he's throwing it through the poll like 40 times. And they give the ball to Elliot too. Yeah, he's, he's, I don't, I don't love that. Aaron Jones is giving up a lot of, um, touches to, um, AJ Dylan. He's kind of turning into an old running back and he's questionable this week. Uh, I love the real quick tangent. Green Bay sucks. And I love it. I love it. I've been waiting. I've been waiting. I've got, you know, some Packers fans in my life. I was texting yesterday. I'm just like, how we feeling boys after the, after the game, they're just like, Oh, burn it down. This is terrible. I'm like, look, you guys have never had. It was like me being a bulls fan in the mid nineties and just taking it for granted, although, you know, it was just like, I'm just like, you went from. Brett Favre to Aaron Rogers and now you guys are pissed. It's like, just, just you're welcome to the rest of being a, being a normal fan. So I love it. I'm going to say Jones continues to suck. Deontay Johnson was on Pat Martin's bench last night with 22 points, uh, 90 yards in a touchdown, seven catches.
33So pick that though. You never would have. No, he hadn't scored a touchdown in over a year. It's been like 600 passes to score a touchdown. So I'm going to, I'm going to go on this one against the projection and I'm going to go Brian Baxter. I like the matchups there at that Cooper cup against green Bay. Now we don't know if Stafford is going to be healthy or not. If he's going to be, he's a true game time decision with a UCL and his thumb or something like his, his hand is hurt. I don't think he's going to play. It looked bad. His thumb looked bad. Not looking good. Um, I do like his, he's got Devante Adams, Cooper cup, Rashad white caught like 10 passes last week and had a hell of a game. So I think that, um, I think, I think Baxter is going to pull this one out. I that that's me. That's my guess. I don't think the matchups for Pat are that great. And, uh, I'm going to, I'm going to go against the curve. It's not like a, a bold prediction, but I'm going to get, I'm going to, I'm going to stick with Pat, just, I think he's got some, some points between Garrett Wilson and Josh Allen that can, I think everyone else is going to be like, I think everyone on both sides are going to be like 10, 12 point players.
38And then he's going to have a couple that are going to be like 19 and 20. And that will, they'll swing it. Let's talk about your, the final matchup of the week, which is going to be. Tandy Wilson from city house versus hurricane DECA from Mickey's coal fired. You will be at the bears game. I always find that when I go to an NFL game, my fantasy players do great. Because in the stadium, keep that energy in the stadium. You can't like look anything up because everybody's on their phone. I also don't have anybody on either team, so I can just sit there and enjoy the game. You're going to try and look up your scores mid game. You're going to see, you're going to see on the big jumbotron that somebody scored a touchdown or go, Oh, was it my guy? And you're not going to be able to do it. And it's going to drive you crazy. And it's always your guy that scores by the way, when you're at the game. So you, I feel good energy for you on this one. Uh, yeah. Tandy had to start will love us to only two scored less than nine points. So that gave me a little bit of an advantage, but I will say it's a big game.
39We're both tied at four, four and four. Um, of course there's four playoff spots, but he's got the tiebreaker because he's ahead in points. So if I win this, I can undisputed fourth place. That's true. So I'm, I'm, I'm really pulling for that. And he's got, um, I picked up ETN, Calvin Ridley on the bench, Brock Purdy on the bench. Um, Tandy, if you're listening, you can put one of those guy or no, you can't on, on IR. So his IR spot is empty. You can put Debo Samuel and IR, you know, pick somebody up. Did you know that? Me? Yeah. Oh, is Debo Samuel on IR now? Well, he's out. No, he's out, but you can put him in that IR slot. You can put out in IR. Yeah. I think that'd have to be an IR. No, no. Anybody who's out, you can put on IR and then you can pick up another player just in case there's somebody out there. Kind of feel good about that. I picked up Kincaid. Look at your next two weeks and see if there's somebody you might need to pick up and go get them now while the waiver wire is wide open today. I picked up Kareem Hunt just to have him. So no one else could take him because I'm doing shit like that now.
43Good. We'll keep, you have an extra slot is what I'm telling you. If you want to do that again, if you look over the players like, Hey, I could stash this guy, this guy might get hurt. If there's a backup that's sitting out there grabbing them, I get hurt this weekend and then you have them before anybody else because you have the open slot and you can just drop them next week if you don't want to, but at least you could stack your, your bench. Yeah. I always do that. If I got a guy who's out, you got to do that. Grab them anyway. Okay. Don't let them sit there. Cause if that person gets hurt, if there's any backup, a number clear, number two running back, who's not getting the carries, I've got Devon a chain in my IR slot right now, but he's on IR, right? He is on IR. But if you look at my team, I've got Devon a chain, Jerome Ford. And look at that. It did. I just did it and let me do it. Fuck. I thought it had to be IR to be on IR. No, you can do that. Anybody who's out, anybody who's out, you can put on the IR, anybody out there. If you're listening, if you have somebody in your team who's out, Darren Waller, who's out this week, put him in your IR slot and you can pick somebody else up. Since I already have people in my R slot and I'm not getting rid of Devon a chain. Cause now we're really getting into the bi-weeks too.
44And people are really, this is kind of the slog of the season. So people are looking for stuff. That's where you can make your, your pickups that you don't even need just to strategically. I have in my other, and by the way, in my other leagues, I'm crushing it. Just to say in the, in the, in the mayor bowl league, I'm in second place at seven and one, and I'm only, and I'm 40, I'm 24 points ahead of the dude who's in front of me, but he's my only loss. So the head to head, he beat me. So he's in first place cause he's also seven and one, but the next is six and two, five and three, we have one, one and seven team, but I'm, I'm, in first place in that league. And then I'm also in a, but that's like triple a dude. This league is major league baseball. This is, this is the show. Yeah. And in my other league, I'm also seven and one, but I'm in second place because that guy has more points than me, but I did beat him head to head, but in that league, it doesn't work that way. This is the only league I'm playing this year. I kind of like that. Sometimes it makes you be a little more invested in, you know, I'm invested in all three, but I'm, you're invested in all of them.
49Seven and one in my other two leagues. So I have a little, what I'm saying is I have some, I have some bravado, even though I'm like two and six in this league, I'm killing it in my other leagues. So I'm okay with that. You can't transfer points from one league to another though. And the Maribor league is for money. So that's the, the one that's for money is really, this league is for money too. We're trying to raise money for the giving kitchen, but this is also money too in a way because I have to pay for Max Goldberg's dinner at Nicky's. That's true. One of these nights here. So you're going to have to pay for my dinner there too. And we make, I think we should make it. We should send each other to it. Like no co or whoever went, any, let's find a restaurant that you both really want to eat at. Yeah, we ate there actually. Oh, well let's find another one that you really like. So I have two. It's really good. But like Joe Mar's seafood or something went there last night. Did you really, we sat at the bar. Cause it's cause the show we went to is a marathon music works. Um, so we just went to the bar and just sat and got like, uh, what? I got some baked clams, French onion soup, martini.
52It was awesome. Nice. Caroline got chopped salad, French onion soup. Very good. Is the French onion soup good? So good. It's, it's, it's like the German town cafe. Have you been there recently? No. Then let's do that. Let's do like, we'll send the other couple to, or we can all go as a force and we can do a double day, but the person who loses has to pay. How about that? We'll figure out. Okay. Something like that. We'll do something fun. Okay. But like a cool restaurant that, you know, like a legend, like a local legend or some somebody who's been around for a long time that we want to show some love to. Sure. And I love the German town cafe. The place is still, have you had their French onion soup? Yeah, it's awesome. It's like the best. Yeah. They're, they do an amazing job. I love French onions. All right. Um, so there's our picks any picks. Do you want to pick the big three games this week? And then we'll call it a day and we'll put this episode out and let everybody go with their weekend. And hopefully we can confuse everybody as to what real quick. I wanted to bring something up. Cause I asked, so you and Caroline were recording the podcast yesterday and she texted me and she said, what? And I'm like, in what context did this come up?
54This has nothing to do with football. It's just a, it's just a funny thing I wanted to bring up. We haven't talked about it. So we, we can talk about it real quick. She was like, what were the, what were the shoes you had in junior high that your mom made you get? And I'm like, Oh, LA gear. Or she was like the street hikers. She was like, what were the street hikers? And I said, they're LA gear. And she's like, no, who is the spokesperson? Do you so Montana? It's I remember that Joe Montana LA gear. So this started, but you wore, you had some fresh kicks on yesterday. Is that what I came in? We interviewed Margaret Littman. That episode will be out on Monday. Thank you for letting me promote our episode for Monday with Margaret Littman, the writer for the scene. She's very delightful, really loved our conversation with her. Uh, but no, I came in wearing some Jordan fives and they're the top five or Jordan sixes. I don't know what number they are, but there, did she send you a picture of them? Yeah, I think they're the, so the three are the concrete. The four, those might be fours or fives. I can't remember. I'll tell you what they are. I don't know what, but they have like the little kind of flame fire thing.
57Uh, Jordan fives, Jordan fives, Jordan five retros. And they're like, like those. Yeah, those are awesome. I know. And I went on stock X and I won a bit a little while ago. They're not anything crazy expensive, but I had these shoes when they came out, when I was like 11, right? So when I was 11 years old, I got the issue, like saved up. Mode yards did the whole thing. Cause I wanted to have those Jordans. I liked the clear bottoms. I was like, Holy shit. Those are the coolest shoes in the world. And I said, so when I was 11 years old, I bought like $125 when I was 11, and this is a long time ago. I feel like Jordans cost the same now than they did. Like they're very, they're very similar. Yeah. I mean, these are like 200 bucks, but like, nevertheless, they, they were really expensive for an 11 year old to buy, but I wanted these shoes and I got them. And so she was like, wow, those are some cool kicks. And I was like, I saw them online. And I was like, man, I had these when I was 11. And she goes, yeah, Tony had some shoes. He didn't have the Jordans. He had like the, he was, he had the, the look alike knockoff Jordans that were like street hikers or something.
00And then she told me a story where she was like, yeah, people like street hiker. They're like yelling at you. And so we went to the store. So I'm the oldest of four. And also we had moved, uh, from the South side to the, to the suburbs. I was in junior high, like sixth grade. It's when you're starting to like figure out the like clothes brands matter and stuff, but there was just a big disparity coming from where I was in Chicago to like this more affluent suburb where kids had been like drilled on clothes for, for more, so I was behind and my mom was also like not into it and they were, you know, they're just like, you're, you're the oldest. These are shoes for a sixth grader. We've got, you know, four kids to, to feed in clothes. So we're not doing the Jordan shit. So my mom's like, you know, you gotta figure out something else. So I remember it so distinctly. We went to champ sports and the mall and I'm like looking, I'm just like, fuck, man, I'm like, come on, come on. Like I'll do something like just buy these, these Jordans or these flights or whatever, just not even Jordans. I'll take like the flight, you know, flights were pretty sweet.
01Yeah, just whatever. My mom's like, how about these? And they were like 45 bucks maybe. And I'm like, I don't know. And they, they were like, they were like a hybrid of like, like a high, it was supposed to be like a hiking shoe and like a, and like a, and like a gym shoe, like a tennis shoe. And I remember the commercial, I remember seeing the commercial and the commercial so stupid because Joe Montana, not cool. He's not a cool guy. No, no, no kids were just like, I want to be like Joe Montana. This was like, be like Mike was out. Everyone's like, you know, yeah, there it is. Look at, he's just got like, looked up the Joe Montana street, feathered hair, you know, it's just like Joe Montana is not who the kids are trying to emulate. And my mom sort of talked me into it at the, and I could see the store manager, you know, kind of being like, ah, you know, they're not really moving off the shelf. So my mom sort of talked me into it. She's like, look, they're like, they're like hiking shoes. And so blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, okay, okay, okay. I'm like, I'll get them. Don't walk street.
03They don't walk. They hike. It says don't walk street hike. Yeah. I street hiked my ass to the bus stop and got ridiculed. I remember that. So I remember like walking up to the bus stop and then get in a sense that like, cause everyone like walks, it's like the beginning of school. So everyone's checking out what the other person's where I, oh yeah. And it's like within the first couple of days, you know, so I'm like walking up to the bus stop and I could see people just like right away looking at my feet. And I'm like, fuck. So I'm just like, I'm like, maybe I'll just like, try, I'll just like, try not to draw attention to my feet. You know, I'll just like, I'll stand. I'll wear like a clown rainbow colored wig. No, you just don't look at my feet. You stand. I remember standing, I remember taking my backpack off my back and just putting it like on the front of my shoes. So I'm standing with my bag. It looks like I'm just like, I'm just setting my backpack on the ground, but I'm strategically like blocking my shoes because I'm like, all right, let's just, I don't want to deal with this. And I remember I took like the first step onto the, like onto the bus.
05There was a bunch of kids behind me and they go, they don't walk, they hike. And I'm like, oh, that's all right, though. That's a character builder. That is amazing. But then I eventually got so fucking mean, so mean. But then I got my shoes that I just like you. I was able to save up, get a job. What are you wearing today? You got some pretty, uh, Nike legacy. What are these called court legacies? Court legacy. Those are pretty sweet. Yeah. I like this. You're just a, they're simple. I'm rocking the Cole Hans today. Those are nice. Cole Hans. Wing tip. These are, yeah, I don't know what these are, but they're like the, the comfortable Cole Han, there's zero grands. That these actually the three 60 grand just got them. They're, they're, they're new. They're nice. Yeah. I buy everyone that can't see Brendan is he's got a suit and tie on, but like, like cash. They're not dockers, but they're not like suit. They're like a gene. It's like a, like a fancy, like a nice gene. They're like on those like stretchy jeans. Yeah. They're like tight kind of, I got it at Costco.
06They didn't have 14.99. It looks good. You look sharp. I'm a Costco guy. Yeah. Somebody that is said, man, I like those pants. We're here. I go, Oh, I have a really great couture. And they go, Ooh, who is it? And I go, it's shake Costco Costco. Is that, is it pronounced that way? It's Costco. Yeah, that's what it is. That's what it is. Most of my clothes come from, I can tell you've got big boy meetings later today though. I, well, I'm at Maribor tonight and I've got meetings all day and then Maribor tonight and I always wear a jacket there just because. Yeah. It's like that season two, episode seven, you know, I wear suits now. It's like, it's like a suit of armor, man. And so I know I changed all the managers at Maribor now have to wear a tie or a jacket. Oh, nice. So they wore a tie or they can wear jeans and a sports coat. I'm just doing both today because I like this tie with this shirt. And it's good to set the tone for yourself. You know, I'm a big look, good, feel good guy. And you're actually in like tight. It's tight in blue. Yeah. A Bay blue is my favorite color. Me too. So I'm going to wear blue. I actually can't wear red 90% of the time. My, my skin color has just enough pink in it that if I wear a red shirt, my head looks like it's so pink.
11It looks really weird, which sucks. I can never wear Alabama stuff, but that's okay. Do you need to wear Alabama stuff? I like to. Are you an Alabama fan? Yeah, I'm a fan. Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah. I married into it. Oh, she's from Alabama. Okay. So that's a thing. I'm like, that's not just like a fair weather. Oh, we will like winning. Yeah, no. And it's, it's been great. It's been the only time in my life. I've had a team that's like consistently good to cheer for us. I've never had one. I'm a lifelong, like Tennessee, not, not UT, but like Titans, uh, predators, you know, angels, angels one, one world series. Like how did you become an angels fan? I grew up in Southern California. Oh, you did. Oh, I knew that. So I moved, I moved to Nashville when I was nine, but growing up, Mike, when I was a kid, I would go to angel games, like Rod Carew, Dave Winfield, Kirk McCaskill, Wally joiner. We still love Dave Winfield. Those were like my players. I would watch every week, you know, cause I went to a lot of games. It was like 10 minutes from my house. That was the era of really, these dudes were like popping in phetamines going out there. I saw, I saw Mark McGuire and Jose can say, go hit back to back home runs on multiple occasions.
15I mean, that was, they started at 86. I mean, I was three years. I got to watch the bash brothers. Yeah. I saw a lot of great players, Cal Ripken. I was at the all-star game in 1989 when Bo Jackson led off with a home run. Was it in Anaheim? Anaheim? Yeah. I was at that. Then Bo Jackson hit the home run to start off the 1980 for the Royals. He was, yeah, that was like his coming out moment because that was, they launched the bow nose sports that women, the him with the baseball bat and the whole of that shoulder pads launched that for the all-star game. So that was like Bo Jackson's Nike bow nose came out. Do you remember the shoes? I had them. The they were gray and yellow. They were like, they were like orange. And yeah, I had, I had the bow Jackson's after those Jordans. I think I had the bow Jackson's cause I was like, well, what do you, what do you follow up with a pair of Jordans? And when you're never been to an all-star game, that's the only one I've ever been to and I got, and you want to know my biggest regret in life? I'll tell you, I, uh, I got a foul ball. I got, it was, we went to the home run Derby.
16We were there the day before and the day. And I got a ball 1989 all-star game ball. And then I got all these people to sign it. Kirby Puckett, Cal Ripken, Gaylord Perry. I mean, just, we went to the Anaheim Hilton after the first day one. And it was like, everybody was there. That's where the players were staying. And my grandfather went into the bar and he got all these people. Cause you kids can go into the bar, but my grandfather walked into the bar and got all these players to sign this ball. I mean, this ball had, then you guys played with it in the backyard. No, no, I put it in a case, but when I was 13, I started selling baseball cards, like going to baseball card shows. And I had my own table and I would like sell baseball 13 years old. Yeah. I would, I would sell baseball cards because I collected baseball cards since I was like seven. And so I had this pretty good collection. My brother and I would pay 50 bucks and we'd buy a table. And then we had cases and everything. 13, I was selling baseball cards, negotiating deals, but I traded the ball for like a box of, you know, it was Shaquille O'Neal's rookie year.
23And I got like a box of upper deck, whatever that could have the Shaquille O'Neal rookie card, I think like 135 bucks for it. And at 13, $135 was a lot of money to me and I traded it. And it's probably one of my biggest regrets I have in my life is that that ball, somebody has it somewhere. I've looked on eBay to try and find it. Yeah. 1989 all-star game ball. And I would buy it back just because my grandfather's now passed. And like that was, you had to shoot your shot. I, yeah. But like as a kid, like dude, that ball's worth way more sentimentally. I don't care what the ball's worth. I mean, it's signed by like six hall of famers, at least maybe more. I mean, maybe more. I mean, it has Tony Gwynn was on there. I mean, people that are not alive anymore. I mean, a lot of them aren't alive anymore. Yeah. I mean, those are people that, um, that game was. I mean, Calabasas Jr, Kirby Puckett, Julio Franco, Bo Jackson, Bo Jackson didn't sign the ball, but Dave, uh, Ricky Henderson was there. I mean, all the Jose Kinseko, Mark McGuire, the big players for the A's back.
27And I mean, that was, it was a big time game. If you go back and look at the 1989 all-star game lineup and you watch that game, it's an amazing game. Beautiful weather. The guy, when Bo Jackson hit the home run, the dude behind me got the ball. Oh, wow. Cause we were sitting, it landed on his tarp and we were in the second row behind the tarp and the dude behind me jumped over me and dove on the tarp. Like, cause there's this tarp that's covering a bunch of seats. I love the guy that like just jumps over children or snags the ball from. Exactly what happened. The dude behind me got the ball when Bo Jackson hit that, but the ball went right in front of me. I mean, if you go back and pause the footage of Bo Jackson's home run, you can see me, a nine year old self right there. I've been to, I don't know, 35 ball games in my life. I haven't had a ball come close to me ever. Really? Not, not, not even within like 20 yards. Uh, we went to, I don't, I'm the mush. I'm bad luck when it comes to a ball. We went to Atlanta this year to see, we saw the Braves and Marlins play.
28I took my oldest son on the fourth of July weekend and we had two rows behind the Marlins dugout, the, uh, our owner of the restaurant, his brothers, the chef for the Braves. I want to go to that new stadium. It looks truest parks. Amazing. But the third pitch of the game, Kuna junior foul ball, my son got it. Nice third pitch of the game. I mean, did he bring a glove? Cause he was right there. Uh, we did not have a glove. Uh, we got two balls that game. One of the bat boy threw us a ball. Cause he's, I was like, Hey man, throw me a ball. And he threw me a ball. So we had one for him and one for his little brother. But the first, the, the pitch, the ball that was used to start the game is the ball that we got. Like the opening pitch ball was, it landed right behind me. And I was just out in reach and the usher grabbed it right next to me. And he was like, here you go. And just hand it to me. And I said, Hey bud, first foul ball of the game is yours. Yeah. I mean, it was, it was a pretty random, like, holy shit. You go to the game and you kind of have this like, I wonder if we catch a foul ball that's always in your mind. I have no expectation of it anymore. But like you wonder, you're like, I wonderful catch a foul ball.
30The third pitch of the game. You're like, that was fast. And when you're a dad and your son is there, like, then he's just got this big cheesing smile. I got a ball. Like, it's like, that's good memories. You can use that for collateral later in life when you're just like, Hey, remember when we went to this game, you were 10 and we got that ball. No, he was nine at the time. Cause it was in July. So he was nine. You can bring me up. Just be like, look at some people never get up. Look at Tony. So be, you know, mindful of your shit. I, you know, I've been to so many sounds games, like when I was at Greer stadium, I've probably been to a hundred sounds games. I was at Greer stadium back in the day. I got so many foul balls. Cause there's like 80 people. Like you could run to the ball and we'd hang out and get like Skeeter Jones or Skeeter Johnson was the guy. And Rob Dibble used to pitch for the sound there. It was a cool stadium. It was pretty run down though, by the end. We had a, probably a dozen broken bats because they break a bat and you can walk up and like, Hey, can I have that bat?
33And they just give you the bats because you're nobody there. You can walk right up and go, Hey man, can I have that bat? And they're like, sure. Cause you could go to batting practice and they break bats and batting practice and you just ask for the bats. We'd leave every game. They've really turned it around because I feel, cause now I know that stat is true, that they are the highest attended minor league team, the highest attended. That's really cool. Yeah. And they went from like you and two other guys in the stands. All right. We should wrap it up in early nineties, early nineties, Greer stadium. Now the experience is a little different. Yes. I don't know if people love the first half of the show or that last 20 minutes the most just started with them with Joe Montana street hikers and we really, really went off on the rail. Hey, you learned a little bit about us there. So I recommend everyone it's on YouTube. Look up Joe Montana street hiker, watch the video and then picture me and wearing those shits. They sucked. Yeah. I street hiked. They're pretty, they're pretty bad ass by the way. I'm going to go on stock X. I'm going to try and find those for your birthday. I'm getting you those. That's going to be, here's, I think whoever wins that week.
36If you win, I'll buy you the street hikers. You got to get street hikers. I wonder if they ha I'm just going to look right now. Cause I'm really curious if they have the street hikers. Cause they're, they didn't remake those. No, I think they'd have to be like an original pair. I mean, they're LA gears, dude. They're no one is remaking LA gears. Yeah. They're not available now. I mean, maybe on eBay you can find some, but they're not, they're not, they're not remaking those. Oh man. Look at them. They just look like they're so bad. Oh, this is the colorway that I had. This is black. Look at this shoe. This is a really good podcasting, but here, oh, men's size nine. It's a little, I wear nine and a half, but look at in the box, it says street hiking and it has a logo that looks like a yield sign rare. Like, those are so bad. You could get black just for everyone. They're just like, they're, they're like brown suede and then black.
39And they suck to say LA gear on the tongue. What size shoe do you wear? Men's size nine point five, nine and a half. Then a half or 10, it depends on the, on the maker. But usually nine and a half. I mean, they're, they're, they're 75 bucks. Rare 1991 vintage. All right, let's wrap it up. So I feel like we have a bet. We'll have to, something I'll have to involve LA. We'll have to wear LA gear for, for a week. I mean, let's come up with that. I found these. I don't know. They're all old. Yeah. Thank you for writing out there. If you need anything, go to the, um, go to the giving kitchen.org. Giving kitchen's amazing out there. They are here to help restaurant workers. They can't help you if you're wearing street hikers. No, that is not something that I can help you with. But if you are also a, a restaurant owner and you are unhappy with your dish machine slash chemical service, you need to call Jason Ellis over at super source.
45And you know, I'm even going to do for those people that need that level of service, I'm going to give you his number just right now. I'm going to tell you what his number is because then you can call him and you don't even have to look it up. I'm just going to give it to you. Uh, Jason Ellis, his number is 770-337-1143. That's Jason Ellis was super source. He's an amazing guy. You should buy your dish machine and chemicals from him. I'm super excited, uh, for you, cause you're going to be so happy when you do this. Sure. All right, guys. May the injury bug not bite you this week. We'll see you next week. Good show.
