Brandon Styll launches a brand new seasonal spinoff of Nashville Restaurant Radio: a fantasy football league made up of Nashville chefs and restaurant owners, with proceeds benefiting The Giving Kitchen. Co-host Tony Galzin of Nicky's Coal Fired joins to set the format, walk through how fantasy football works for non-football listeners, and break down the ten teams in the inaugural league.
The duo go matchup by matchup through Week 1, sharing picks, talking trash, and brainstorming Tennessee Titans themed team names like Jim Tan Landry, One Tree Tannahill, Tierra in My Beer, Chef Byardy, and My Tractor Cito's Sexy. They also discuss plans for an end of season awards dinner at Maribelle, sponsor support from SuperSource, and a fundraising competition that runs alongside the on-field race for the championship.
Naima Walker Fierce of Germantown Pub calls in live as the show's first ever caller to talk about her rookie fantasy season, the Battle of Germantown matchup against Tandy Wilson of City House, and why supporting The Giving Kitchen matters to restaurant operators in a booming Nashville.
"Something so out of my control can affect my happiness in such a profound way. That's really what sports is about, what football is about as a fan."
Tony Galzin, 03:30
"Caroline basically said, I need you to feel like we're married on Sundays and you're not married to the NFL."
Tony Galzin, 04:30
"Kevin Byard sent the nicest email with a gift certificate when we closed for COVID. That guy's awesome."
Tony Galzin, 42:30
"Those of us in the restaurant community have a particular obligation to write checks where we can and to mobilize our kitchens when there is a dire need."

00:00Super excited today to bring you the inaugural episode of the Nashville Restaurant Radio presents Fantasy Football Restaurant Edition. Sounds good. 2023. Sounds good. 1.0. This is the first one, the first one, and I am joined, I'm Brandon, and I'm joined with Tony Galzin. He's the owner of Nicky's Coal Fired with his lovely wife, Caroline. Makes me technically the co-owner. Makes you the co-owner, co-owner of Nicky's Coal Fired. You guys are, are you guys just like 50-50 in the thing? Uh, yeah, I guess so. Guess so? Kind of a deal? We're married. It's basically the same. It's all one together. So I had this idea, and I love doing fantasy football. Me too. I know you just, whenever we talk, it's like sports.
01:02Let's talk about this stuff. Cause I get, I get wild. Like fantasy, like the football season to me, like some people get this about Christmas or fall to me just feels all the feels. I love Sundays and Mondays and Thursdays are like three holidays every week. They keep adding days too. I know. And I think that our wives are getting angry and angry with the NFL every single week. Like, what the fuck, man? She is. I'll tell you about this, but like, Caroline kind of gave me not a, it was a warning shot basically. And, uh, you know, when we first moved here, uh, we didn't have the direct ticket. You had to get through, uh, or the NFL Sunday ticket to get through direct TV. Yes. So now it's on YouTube. It's great. Everyone can, can get it. I purchased mine. You know, in Tennessee, you can't purchase it in monthly payments. Really? You have to pay, you have to pay either 300 or $400 in one. Like upfront, like the whole thing? Up front. That's how much it costs. I just do the red zone. If you want the red. Oh, you just do the red zone because you're a Titans fan.
02:03So you're on TV anyway. Yeah. I'm a Bears fan anyway. And so I watched the Titans, but then I can just watch the red zone and it covers everything I need for fantasy. Yeah. See, I'm also a Titans fan, so I do get to see that the games, however, if the Bears are playing at the same time, the Titans are playing, I'm watching the Bears game for sure. And then I'll also have the Titans on, but I'm focused on, uh, this thing I've been focused on since I was six years old, which is watching the Bears. So when we moved here, you know, I was dragging Caroline to like the, uh, bars, like Sam's place or was that that place in Hillsborough Village? It was called Sam's. It was called Sam's, right? Okay. There is a Sam's place in Belle Meade, but Sam's was same company, same guy. It's just the one in Belle Meade is a little more family friendly. They had the NFL ticket. Yeah. So like, you know, I'd be dragging her there or like beyond the edge in East Nashville. There's like the Bear, that's Bear Down Nashville. Is that a thing? Yes. So, you know, I'm dragging her to all these bars. She doesn't feel like sitting in at noon and, um, screaming and I'm drawing attention to our table.
03:06She doesn't necessarily want. So then we're like, she's like, I can't see it right now. And she's like, all right, listen, we're going to get the direct ticket because I just can't, I can't go, you know, all I'm not as into this as you are a year, you know, to, well, to watch it out of, you know, out of, out of market game, you got to do this stuff. So this is what the NFL is banking on. Now, do you get that way? Or like Minnesota versus Washington? No, no, it's just like, I don't have to watch it. Yeah. Yeah. I have to watch the Bears. It's a, it's a thing, man. It's no, uh, something that's so out of my control, uh, can affect my happiness in such a profound way is just, that's really what sports is about. It's what football is about as a fan that I'm really like, I'm invested with them. I've been watching the Bears since I've like, I literally, since I can remember, if you look at like pictures of me when I'm like four that I don't have memories, I still have on like a bear's hat. So there's just like pause around that whole thing for you.
04:06It's like, uh, it's emotional. Correct. But I don't think I'm unique to that. I think that's not why the NFL is like a multi-billion dollar enterprise that they're just like, Hey, guess what? Now we're going to put games on Thursday and we're all like, okay, we're going to watch games on Thursday. You know, they're just like, whatever you put out, I'm, I'm here to absorb it. But either way. So basically Caroline was just like, Hey, we're going to get the NFL package. We're going to spend the money so we can, I can have a nice morning at home. I don't have to get up and go with you to some bar I don't want to go to. You don't have to embarrass me in front of a bunch of strangers by screaming like a maniac. Um, but I need you to, I need to feel like I'm, we're married on Sundays and you're not married to the NFL. Like, we're still married on Sundays. I'm like, heard. So I'm different heard that I'm, I've told you this story before. She still gives me my time. Now I have a separate, I have a room, it's like padded walls for when Justin Fields throws an interception. So we just moved. So this is the first time we've had like an extra extra bedroom because you guys just bought a house.
05:07It's bought a townhouse. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so you have got, it's kind of like the guest room. It's on a different floor because even, you know, I, we have two little dogs and they get startled. So like I'll cheer for things on the TV and then freaks out the dogs and it stresses out the whole house. And now I just have my own section unless I'm still going to a bar or like a tailgate or something. But I am so weird. I, I love that. My wife, when we first started dating, I told her, I love the Titans. I'm a Titans fan. Our second date, she came over to watch the Monday night football game. Like that was like my, this is what it is. And then I got into fantasy and then she was like, Oh, this is not what I signed up for. She's like, why are we watching Jacksonville verse? Yeah. The Jacksonville versus, uh, the Colts, you know, I'm going to go to the Jackson. Even that's a division game. I'm going to see the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Colts this Sunday in Indianapolis. You are. I am going to the game. I just decided last night when I was laying in bed, my wife doesn't even know this yet.
06:09I'm going to go see Pearl Jam this Sunday in what used to be Deer Creek Amphitheater right outside, like 20 minutes outside of Indianapolis. And the show starts at seven 30. We're going to get up Sunday morning and drive out there. I got a buddy of mine going. And the last night I was like, I wonder if the Colts are playing at home that day. And they are, they're playing the Jaguars and you can get nosebleed seats for like 30 bucks. And I'm like, well, shit, I'm going to leave at like 7 a.m. I'm going to go to Indianapolis. It's going to be a wild team to watch. Go to a Colts game and then I'll go to this concert. Anthony Richardson has played like 13 games. Like in college. And now like that's an exaggeration. Maybe a few more. But like now they're like, cool, man, you're starting. That dude's like 21 years old. It's insane. He's a big dude, too. He's huge. He's the biggest combine numbers like ever. Like the fastest quarterback ever, 40, the highest jump. Could be interesting. Yeah. It's amazing. So that's awesome. I'm jelly. My relationship with the sport, it's purely entertainment. Like for watching sports is purely entertainment.
07:10I do not really care. I care about the Titans because it's my hometown. I have like the civic pride thing. Yeah. But nothing I do about I've been wearing a Titan shirt today. Nothing about that makes the team better. I can do nothing. And I think through her through my like my alcoholism and the Serenity prayer of the, you know, Grammy, the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change. Yeah. The courage to change things. I can't. Nothing happens if the Titans win for me. Like nothing happens if they lose, like nothing in my life. But it's fun to talk about and it's fun entertainment and I enjoy watching it and I want to root for them. But like I'm not. Does it make you feel a little better? Of course it does. No, of course it does. I mean, I love them. Yeah. Now soccer to me now soccer. I'm like invested in now I'm soccer and hockey. I can do that because the game is different. I know. Right. I didn't expect it either, but it happened. But football for me, when I started doing fantasy, I went, OK, now like I think you asked me, who's your favorite team? And I was like, my fantasy team is my favorite team.
08:11Yeah. And people, I hear people say, I don't want to draft a Titan or draft anybody. If I draft a guy from the Jaguars, if I have Trevor Lawrence on my team, then I got to root for Trevor Lawrence when they're playing the Titans. And I'm like, I do that. I don't care. I do not care. It's about my try not to draft Packers. I actually don't have any this year. So that's good. Well, that's probably a good year to do that. I care more because I actually have control over my fantasy team and I do get something if I win. There's bragging rights. And a lot of times there's money. There's money. Like if I win the fantasy league and I win five hundred bucks, that's five hundred more dollars and the Titans will ever pay me. Probably. And I'm more invested in that. Like that's a thing for me. And I get to watch all the games. I have players I watch. You're more towards the like the line of reality than I am as far as being a fan. As far as being a fan. Now, I will tell you my team name Hurricane Ditka is is from a super fan sketch, the Saturday Night Live, the super fans, you know, the Bears. Yeah. With Farley and Farley, George Wynn, Robert Schmeichel, Bears.
09:15That is rooted in in a real person that exists. That sketch is like when like Chicagoans first saw that sketch, we're like, oh, I know that guy. OK, that's like a real guy. That's a real guy. Being a Bears fan is just like a little different than being like like any other team. I feel like there's other fan base. There's nothing wrong with it. Like Steelers fans, I feel are similar. Cowboys fans, I feel are like a long history. We've never won a Super Bowl. I've never won a Super Bowl and gone down Broadway and danced with people and been like I've never seen that. So maybe when if that happens, it'll bring some of that back. Like I was part of this. I don't know. When the Bears won the Super Bowl in 1985. Well, that's a core. I wasn't on Division Street. That's a core memory, though. You remember that as like a wow, I want to get back there. That's the summit. Yeah. And so I don't know. I look at this and I go, I love Pants Football and I went I love playing with people in my league. I love making bets. I love all that.
10:15Like when I say bets, like I bet our chef last year at we do a Maribol League, I bet him that, you know, if I beat you, then you have to do 25 push ups in the middle of lineup. And if you beat me, then I have to I'll do 25 push ups. I bet a girl I had a woman who's a manager and she was a professional ballerina. And I bet her one week because I was projected like 145 and she was projecting like 101. I said, all right, you're a ballerina. If you lose, you have to dance in line up. You have to put up Paula Abdul straight up. Now tell me and you have to do the dance that she does in lineup with that on the background I'm fairly certain what that dance is just I mean, I think I remember it's a good and so she goes, OK, well, if I win, then you have to do Britney Spears hit me one more time. And I was like, aware of that done, done like you can't no way it's done. Well, what if he hit me one more time? Kind of like this. Oh, no, it's a whole thing. So like Hans Mason Crosby on on a Monday night game hit like five field goals.
11:18I was going to I was up. I was up by 20 points and this motherfucker hits five field goals and she beats me by a point. So I went and I bought she's wearing like this leather red jumpsuit kind of and it's like skin tight. Well, I bought a red onesie on Amazon, it's like a giant red onesie and I got a wig and the whole thing and I practiced this thing and I got it down at 60 seconds of the dance. I put it on the screen and in the middle of line up and everybody in line up and I was like and they're like, guys, we have a special presentation from the health department today. I need you guys all to we got the whole team, the kitchen, everybody in the middle of the dining room. We put the screen up and they started playing. Oh, baby, baby. And I was like, that was the song. I don't know if that's hit me one more time. So yeah, yeah. And then I walk out in this red jumpsuit and in a blonde wig and I do the dance for 60 seconds jumpsuit is from the video toxic. Yeah, I think I have a video of it.
12:19I'm good. I'll show you the video. It's I think I'm all right. Pretty epic. Maybe I'll post it on social if I lose a bet. Maybe I'll bet that I post that on socials or something. I don't know. There you go. But like that to me is everything about fans at least being silly, being fun. But Sunday at 1130 to 12 o'clock is the longest 30 minutes of my life, waiting for that 12 o'clock kickoff. And then the guy on red zone is like, all right, seven hours commercial free football. And it's just like, yeah, sensory overload. All of your data starts rolling in and you're like name John Hansen, something like that. No, the he's got an Italian last name that he's got the biggest years I've ever seen in the world. You know, I'm talking on the red zone, the host of the red zone, Nepal, it's not no, I think it's Hansen. All right. All right. Hold on. Pause. Pause. So we're going to do throughout the shows, we're going to have to Google things as we try and figure it out. You can Google. I have all my lines put up right here.
13:24Anyway, so I had this idea and I thought, man, I would love I have so many amazing people have been on this show and so many people don't understand fantasy football. Oh, Andrew Siciliano. I knew he had a Python name. So I was my phone ring because we are expecting phone calls from chefs calling in to talk about their teams. So we did was. I went, let's get some people together, some chefs in this town, some restaurant owners. And part of the mission of the Nashville Restaurant Radio podcast is to just build community, right? I mean, I think throughout the pandemic we're all locked up, but we could hear other people's story. I think you and Carolyn came on the episode. I got so many people were like, wow, that interview was real. It was raw. Like you guys were very honest about what happened 10 years ago. No, that's what it felt like in 2000 when we started this. But like that was that was it. So I thought if we could. I don't know how many people in this league, you know, personally, a good deal of a deal of them, but now we're all not all of them, but now we're all in a league and we're going to be communicating back and forth.
14:26And it's like a whole thing. And I want to have a big end of the year party, which we could potentially be inviting you, the listener to, which would be a lot of fun like that idea. We decided the espies of Nashville Restaurant Radio Football League. Yes, 1.0 and what will crown a champion? There'll be a loser and then we'll have dinner and it'll be a whole thing. It'd be a lot of fun. I love it. So the people that we have in this league are Tony Galzin, Brandon Styll. We are playing week one together. We are matched up against each other. Also an interesting you drafted first overall. I drafted last. This is a 10 person league. I drafted 10th. Really? Yeah. So I didn't know that. So you got to draft first and you're playing me first. It's very like this first draft versus last. I don't know. And we're projected 124 each. Yeah. It's a 50 50. It's a coin flip right now. The line is moved. You were projected when we first draft. You were up a little bit, but now we're both. It's a yeah, it's a toss up. So I like that. It's good. All right. So you and I are playing. Here's who's in the league.
15:27We have Krova. I like this name, right? Chris on traversal calls. I love that. That is a list again, Jerry. She is the chef and partner over at the buttermilk ranch on 12 south. She is playing team Holden Bache. That is how Holden Bache, he is the chef and partner over at Loughlin Table. So we'll talk about the team names, but go ahead. Yes, we also have this is this is this is the the boss matchup right here. I'm telling you, you have Pat Martin versus Max Goldberg right off the bat, right off the bat, just like heavyweight challenge for this industry here. Now, Thursday night game that is game. Yeah, that's the one you want. Pat Martin versus Max Goldberg fly over at Martin's. Yeah, strategic fly over strategic. I like it. We have Tandy Wilson from City House, Nashville. He is playing against Naima Walker Fierce and her team name Team Fierce. We discussed this. We thought that was a hell of a name. Just that is a good name. And so they give you like a default name and auto assigns.
16:29Yeah, just whatever your last name is. So Tandy Wilson and Naima Walker Fierce, they are playing this week. And then we have Alex Ballou, and he is the most recent winner of Hell's Kitchen. And he is playing against Butterfingers, which is Brian Baxter. I need to know. I need a little context on the Butterfingers. Yeah, I want to know what that just a football term, I guess. It's a drop drop seas. So I just realized last night that Brian Lee Weaver didn't make it in the league and neither did Shane Nasby. Those two were in the league going to do it. And for some reason, at the very last second, when we started drafting the league, we had to draft late. It was a Tuesday at two o'clock on a Sunday, three o'clock on a Sunday. And it was like, I thought I was going to have the auto draft, but then I was able to make it. It was like a scramble. And I think two people, it was a 10 person league, it was a 12 person league. We had Brian Lee Weaver and Shane Nasby, and they both, I guess, didn't make the league. And I didn't realize it till last night. I'm like, where's Brian's team? So those two guys did not make it in the league for some reason.
17:31And I want to apologize to both of them because they were both really excited about being in it. You know what? It makes room for expansion franchises next year. We're definitely going to do 12. So we can go from 10 to 12. Yeah, we'd love to make this an annual thing, make it really fun and bring the champion. Champion is going to have to, you know, if it works, retain the crown. Good. And we have like hardcore players. We should do that league. What's it called where you draft a player and then you have that guy every year? A keeper league. A keeper league. I would love to do a keeper league. Oh, that's going to be an interesting thought. I've never done a keeper league. I've never done one either. I've never done one because I just don't I don't know. I don't have enough like friends that are that engaged to like constantly be messing with fantasy football stuff. OK, so if you're a layman out there and you're like, what are these nerds talking about? Here's how this I want to give that the 10,000 foot view of how fantasy football works. Every player generates points in a league, you establish how the points work. So if a quarterback throws a touchdown, you get six points.
18:33If he throws a pass and it's a 20 yard pass, you get one point for every 10 yards thrown. These are not the actual numbers. These are just hypothetical numbers. I'm throwing out there for explanation sakes. Same thing with running back. Yeah. So if you get a completion, you get if a quarterback throws a completion, it's half a point. Right. And if we're running back for every attempt, he gets one tenth of a point. And then for every yard, he gets a 10. So he has the 10 yard running. It's one point, one points. We're in what's called a PPR league, which is a points per reception league. So if a wide receiver catches a ball, he gets a full point for every 10 yards is a point. And then a touchdown is six points. So if you throw a 60 yard touchdown pass, he gets one point for the catch, six points for the 60 yards and six points for the touch. That's a 13 point play. Yeah, that's a that's a big one. You want this should be a high scoring league because with 10 people, there's, you know, their teams are stacked. Yeah, teams have good players. There's some good high scoring games. And there's so you you draft 16 people and you have to start a quarterback.
19:33You have to start two running backs, two wide receivers, a tight end. And then you have a flex position and then you have a defense and a kicker. Flex is anything but defense, kicker and quarterback. Yes. So it's basically a wide receiver, a tight end or running back. Flex can be anything that it's somebody from your bench. So you draft those players and then we have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven bench players. So as bench players, there's five weeks throughout the week. So some players don't play. So every week we have to go in and set our lineup. So if a team is a bye week and they're not playing, then you have to have a backup tight end for that week. And you put in a different tight end. But you're managing who you start and who you sit every week based upon matchups, weather, injuries, all of the different things. So that's in a nutshell what fans people is. So every week it assigns you a new opponent and then you play a different person in the league and then their team goes up against your league, your team. Whoever scores the most points gets a W. You get a win. And at the end of the year, it goes to the playoffs. The top four teams, I think, make the playoffs.
20:35So you have four teams make the playoffs and then you'll have a champion. It's like the Super Bowl playoffs are not the actual playoffs of the NFL. They're like the last three weeks of the season. Yes. And it always is the hardest thing, because if you draft smart, the championship, because if you have Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback in week 17, week 17, he's not playing Derek Henry. I had Derek Henry one year and I was like in the championship game. And it's like, hey, we're not playing Derek Henry. And I'm like, but he's my bell cow. He's the guy that got me here. Now you're not playing him. So if you draft some players that are on some teams that are going to be really fighting at the end, your chance of having players that win championships are better. So if you're cognizant of that in the draft, it's also very hard to think of when you're drafting, because when you're on the clock, you got two minutes. So then you're looking at who's available. I'll have players in my queue that other people have taken. And I'm like, God damn it, somebody took that. So then I got to look really quick. I'm trying to like, you know, you value like running backs because they tend to score a lot. Quarterbacks obviously score a lot. Well, they're you're kind of rock. I mean, they score touchdowns. Yeah. Yeah.
21:35So that one yard line, running backs get touchdowns. Yeah. So the league is changing, too, though. And now I feel like, you know, Justin Jefferson's the best fantasy player. Yeah. You you actually didn't take him. I did not take him. Who did you take? I think I took Jamar Chase. OK. I love like one B. If like Justin Jefferson's one HMR, here's the thing. I love Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow is probably my favorite quarterback in the league. I like Joe Burrow, too. And I heard somebody say, what about him? Just like he's so he's funny. I think if you watch it from LSU to this day, like he's just hilarious. Very swaggy, too. But that's his whole shtick. He's swaggy. He wears like fur coats and shit like he's hilarious. And you watch all the mic'd up stuff on him during the game. He's just a dude. And he's out there and he's funny and he's playing a game. But I also heard that he's one of those people that like he was like rigged up with a monitor and his heart rate never like changes. Like throughout them, they said two people out there have heart rate like Joe Burrow, like serial killers and first responders.
22:38And I think that when your quarter, when there's some seriously intense pressure situations in football and like I want a guy who's going to get in there and I'm good no matter what, doesn't matter. I'm just here. I got this. And he's cool and confident. And the dude's talent is hell. I just I just like him. I think he's a funny guy. And I think he's a hell of a quarterback. And last year, when you stack players, when you have Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase, more people won the championship with those two players stacked because imagine in Higgins. But if you if Joe Burrow throws a touchdown to Jamar Chase and both those players are on your team, you get six points for the touchdown throw from the quarterback, get six points for the reception. You get you double it up. And they threw like the most of those last year. So I was kind of hoping that Joe Burrow would come back to me. And he didn't make it. Oh, you didn't get him. Oh, do I get both of them? No, I think I got both of them, actually. Oh, you did. I have four teams. So I'm like, let's look really quick. You do you have Burrow and Chase. So there you go. So I had do I have Burrow and Chase. That was kind of my strategy. I wanted Burrow and Chase because when they do that, if they have if they have a big game now, the danger there is if they're off, if they if Chase doesn't catch a lot of balls.
23:47But then, like you said, they've got T Higgins. So basically, you're just like, I didn't want to draft Kirk Cousins. Essentially, like if I take according to my formula, if I take Justin Jefferson, then I have to roll with Kirk Cousins quarterback. The the Netflix. Yes. That followed him, Mariotta and Holmes. Yes. God, I came out kind of just like. He's a big doofus, but he's really likable. Kirk Cousins. Oh, he's a he's a dad. What a dad. Dork. He's such a dork. But I'm just like, God damn it, man. I kind of don't kind of he's not like, you know, I really dislike Aaron Rogers. And there's a lot to point at there and just be like he is because I've watched hard knocks, too. And they're trying really hard to make him look like a human that drinks water and breeze air. But Aaron Rogers is just like he's a snake and he's cold blooded. Not relatable at all. But but Kirk is just a dork. And it's just like, oh, man, he's just like a Midwestern guy. And it's just like I really like this. So anyway, but yeah, you don't want him on your fantasy. I have lots of empathy for Aaron Rogers, by the way. Why? I don't. OK, again, real quick, as a as a Bears fan. You hate him. He's been in my life for 16 years.
24:51And before that, actually, 17 years with the Packers. And before that, 16 years of Brett Favre, one of these fucking Bears killers has been on my team since I was 12 or been in my life since I was 12. So there's a personal thing. I just have empathy for all athletes and people like celebrities and type of because we have no idea what their lives are like. I have no Aaron. Aaron Rogers, every single time he walks in a room, every single person in the room goes, that's Aaron Rogers. That's Aaron Rogers. Aaron Rogers here. Can you imagine if every time you can't go to the grocery store, you can't go anywhere because everywhere you go, you can't go after that. What does that do to you mentally? What does that do to you mentally? It makes you want to go spend four days in the darkness before training. Yeah, I mean, like, I don't know what this dude's life is like or why he's the way he is, but I can only imagine what my life would be like if every single place I went, every single person wanted something from me.
25:53Tony Gelson says something nice about Aaron Rogers. Aaron Rogers is here's he's a human. We don't know that yet. He so some of I feel like I have this theory. Some of the best players are the most petty, the most petty. Like if you watch the last dance, you really and I'm reading the Jordan rules. I'm like, I've never read it. So I'm like reading it now. And I'm just like, man, I mean, not like everyone's like. Jordan was a competitor. LeBron is a competitor. Kobe, like Tom Brady, all these guys that are like the highest echelon. They take the littlest thing and make it like a slight against them so they can turn that into and then they have the physical gifts. They have the mental acumen, all the things that make them great on the field. But some players just don't have that. And it's not like it's like a pettiness. B.J. Armstrong in the playoffs puts his mat like to the Chicago Bulls bench and Jordan sees it and goes, no, that's it. I'm going to put 64 on you today and just turns it on. Yes. And it's like Tom Brady feels like people are just like, oh, I'm too old.
26:56Let me show you. LeBron is just like, oh, I'm not better than Jordan. Let me show you. Same thing with Rogers. He was just like, you don't think I can. And he's just I'm not far. Watch this. He takes this. Yeah, he's so petty. The thing that he was kind of on a decline and then they just they drafted Jordan Love and I like revitalized them for a couple of years because he's like, yeah, motherfuckers, you want to. You know, so that's motivation. That's what I'll say. He is. He's very petty to the point where it makes him a good quarterback and above average. That is the definition of a backhanded compliment. Yeah, I think that's all that's as nice as I can do. I love it. It's the king of petty. So there you go. That's the background. So the other side of this that I have to mention is that I am a huge advocate for the giving kitchen. So the giving kitchen is amazing. We've had Jen Heidinger Kendrick on the show a couple of times. They are a nonprofit organization that helps restaurant workers. They want to help restaurant workers.
27:58So what does that mean? That means that they give grants that they will help you not lose your house. If you break your ankle and you can't go to work and you have to have surgery. Well, there's a lot of anxiety and a lot of fear around that because, well, I'm going to have to go to work the broken ankle. Well, they will come in and they will pay your rent and they'll pay for groceries and your electric bill while you're hurt. They won't pay your medical bills, but they will take care of you if you work in the restaurant business anywhere in the country. And they will do this for you. So one of the main things that they need, what they need to do is they just need to get the word out right now that they are here to help you. So if you're a restaurant manager, if you're an owner and you have an employee, I had a woman who worked for me who came to me and said, hey, look, I just found out I have breast cancer. And I said, wow, OK. And I sat with her and we talked about it. And she said, I'm really scared, obviously, but it's not a terrible breast cancer. But I have to go have this surgery and I'm going to be out for a month. And I don't know how I'm going to pay my mortgage.
28:59I don't know what I'm going to do. Can you help me? And I went, I'm going to turn you on to the Giving Kitchen. Let me introduce you to some people. And they completely came in and took care of her, did all of the things that took it, that she was able to not be late on her mortgage payment and had food and had groceries and took care of all of this stuff. I've actually referred, yeah. We had a morning manager that like a prep manager that like broke her foot, like dropped a big bottle on her foot and like broke it one night. And, you know, was out, couldn't, you know, outside of work. This can happen. Yeah. Things, you know, outside of work. And it's just like, you know, we want to I wish I could say like, hey, don't worry. But we're an independent business. I don't have all that. You know, we were able to be like, I can front you one paycheck. But it's like she did reach out to them. It was great. She got stuff to help because she's also, you know, as a kid. And, you know, yeah, it's a great organization. She's a person. Yes. And that's just like one example from one restaurant. You've got one example. There's like hundreds of good examples. They're great organizations. So I think a lot of managers and owners are sitting in a position that we were sitting in that day where somebody comes to you and they say, I'm scared.
30:01What do I need to do? And you rack your brain. You're like, I wish there was just some organization that was free that wanted to help my employees. Boom. Here it is. The Giving Kitchen. That is what they do. So we're not asking. One of the main things I want to do here is I want to let people know about the Giving Kitchen. You can go to thegivingkitchen.org and you can learn more about them. You can help your employees if it needs to go there. They have stickers you can put on your wall. But also, I want to raise money for them. So what I'm doing is I've partnered with the Giving Kitchen on this. I've got individual links for every single player in the league. All 10 of us are going to have individual links. And then I'm asking everybody to share this on social media. I don't need you, Tony. I don't want to burden anybody in this league with fundraising. But this is a really important thing for our industry. And so I've got these links and we're asking you out there if you would like to donate to the team you think is going to win. Or this is somewhat a popularity contest.
31:02Or if you think this team is going, you can go. And I'm going to put all the links out there at Nashville underscore restaurant underscore radio dot com, as well as I'll be posting it on our on our socials. That's what my Instagram handle there. I'm at Brandon underscore N.R.R. And I'll be posting stuff there to Facebook, Nashville Restaurant Radio, where you can just click a link and you can donate. So at the end of the year, we were talking about. Yeah, I haven't cleared this in the league yet. But my vision is that I would like to have a dinner at Maribor on a Sunday night where we invite everybody from the league and we do an awards banquet style, SB style thing where we love it, give the championship award. And then for every if you win, you have to dress up like Joe Burrow. Oh, man, you have to. I totally if I because I have Joe Burrow, I will do that. Like the but like the suit, you know, like he kind of wore like a a bengal stripe, like Zoot suit, kind of with like some bling. I'll figure it out. OK, because I plan on winning. So I'll start looking that up tomorrow.
32:02I may not win, but I will talk the most shit. So if you want to hear me, you can support that. Well, I kind of one of my ideas was we could auction off tables. So I like that we could auction off three people to sit at your table that night. And then we could. The goal is to raise as much money as we possibly can for the giving kitchen. So whatever we can do to bring in people and their funds. And if you want to hang out with some of these chefs, we got some, you know. Plus, it'll be over in January, right? There's nothing going on. No, nothing's happening in January. This is mid-January. We'll do this. I mean, it'll be after the holidays. It'll be cold. It'll be a Sunday night. You know, something fun to do after the holidays. Meet all of meet everybody in the league. Get to hang out and talk to all these people. I think it will be a lot of fun. Good timing. Good food. We'll have some good wine. It'll be a great time. Then we'll get to see the officially crowning of the fantasy football, the inaugural fantasy football champion, which. And maybe the pay up of a bet, too. We'll see what someone will. Something is going to unfold during the course of the season. Some something embarrassing will have to happen. Yes.
33:05Something. I just see it happening. I don't know what yet, but. So we're already 33 minutes into this. OK, we talked about the show being like 30, 45 minutes. Like, how long can we talk? 20 minutes. All right. So you want to move it on to the. Yes. You want to move it on to the OK. Well, I wanted today to be the framework. I wanted to set up what we're doing. Tony and I are not experts, but we love the sport. And I get much better as the season goes. I've watched one snap this year. I mean, went to a preseason Titans game, but that doesn't mean anything. I saw the Patriots game. Ten Hill handed off twice. Was that the last which game? Three times, three times. And then it was gone. I was like, oh, he's under. Great. Then it was then all the Malik first were out there. Yeah. The believers, the Malik verse. The people that think that Malik Willis should be our quarterback. Yeah, I don't know about that. You know, he's an OK backup. I think he's OK. We'll see. I don't know. He hasn't got a whole lot of playing time. I mean, he will love us. He was such bad of a backup, though. Last year, they brought Josh Hobbs from off a couch to play a playoff game.
34:05That's true. Or Josh Dobbs, Josh Dobbs. And we drafted Will Lovis. But that dude was literally not no, even playing like XFL. He was just like chilling, hanging out. That's wild. He did great, though. He did. He did good. Yeah, I was a good for a dude sitting on his couch. I couldn't do that. Yeah, no. I mean, to come in and play in a playoff game. I mean, a playoff game. I think you put did we make the playoffs? I think it was the game to get into the playoffs. If we win, we went to the playoffs. We didn't win. OK, that's what it was. But he made it close. Yeah. And all the UT fans in the world were like, whoo. Yeah. So we've got 10 teams. We've got five games. Let's go through. Let's talk about our teams here. OK. Now, one of the things is these team you and I, my team name is Beg, Burrow and Steel. I like that because I have Joe Burrow. So I like to incorporate my team names into there. Your team name is Hurricane Dick. We've talked about that. Yep. We're both projected to do 124 points next week when we do the show. We're going to show every Friday. We're going to break down each team and then we're going to make some picks.
35:09We're going to do a pick them every single week. We're not experts. Please do not go and bet what we say we're doing in real life. Not the fantasy teams. We're doing real life teams and then we're going to pick. I think we should pick the fans teams also. OK, I like that. So I'm going to pick Beg, Burrow and Steel this week. You are. Yeah. Who do you think is going to win that one? I think he's going to lose. You're going to go with Hurricane Dick. I think that's a shocker. Hurricane. What if the name's Hurricane? Is there a game that guy? Yeah, now I get it. Now I get it when you said it like that, like, oh, that's Hurricane Ditka, because they were going over like they were like, what if who would win in a round of golf? Ditka or Gad? And then like they were just Dick or Hurricane. Whatever it was, Hurricane Ditka, like I did go. What if the hurricane was Hurricane Ditka? OK, so so we have the next matchup is Chris on traversal calls. Yes, which I again, beautiful name. I love Alyssa again, Jerry. She is projected 122 points. She's got Geno Smith as her quarterback, Nick Chubb, James Connor, Tyreke Hill, D.K. Metcalf, got a Conquo, Chig, a Conquo.
36:16Yeah, a little local love there. Chris, a lot of a Tennessee's defense and young way. Cool. Young Hoku is the kicker for the Falcons. Yeah. How Holden Bates is looking at Jalen Hart, Saquon Barkley, Najee Harris, AJ Brown, DJ, DJ Moore. It's D.J. Moore. He's still playing, huh? He's just got him. He was the member. He was on Carolina. Yeah, we traded him. I mean, they sent him over to get the number. I think his grandson is a four star recruit now. Really? I'm just kidding. He's like 24 years old. He's an old guy. Kersen T.J. Hawkinson. So the wind probability has Chris on traversal calls. But I actually I like the eye test. My eye test tells me Hal's team should win. I like the. Yes, when you look at the matchups, I mean, the Geno Smith matchup against the Rams, although pretty promising doubt Dallas is like awesome defense.
37:16So Alyssa's schedule 122 and Hal is 119.3. So Team Holden Bates is a pretty generic team. He hasn't updated his team. You have gone through Tony and you have created some team names. So if you're out there and you haven't named your fantasy team, you have got some local flavor. I'm going to ask you to throw out and kind of tell some stories behind the team names that you came up with and created. Let's go. OK, great. So when you were you were like, let's do this podcast and we did the draft and you didn't have as soon as I signed up, I gave my team a name. Yeah. And a couple of people did and you didn't sign up yet. So I'm like, oh, this is going to be something for me to talk about in the first podcast. I will tell Brandon, I'll give Brandon some options of a team name. And I just assumed you were a Titans fan. So I just went with team players and I am a Titans fan. You are a Titans fan. But then you ended up drafting Joe Burrow. You went beg, bro and steal. I'm like, oh, that's really good. I really like it. I'm jealous. I didn't think of it also real quick. Just I'm thinking of jealous things.
38:17So we have one of my employees. She also works at Monday Night Brewery and they have a fantasy league over there. And she said she's she's like, I don't know anything about football. So I drafted names that I thought I could make like a pun out of. And she didn't know that the the pronunciation of the New Orleans wide receiver is Chris Olavi, because it just looks like Chris Olav. Olav. And she said, live, laugh, olav. And I'm like, it's a lobby, but that's awesome. I like I'm going to give you credit. OK, so that's that one's not mine. Someone can take that, but I like that. So I just assumed everyone that doesn't have a consider because there's team how holding base, there's team Goldberg. There's people that still haven't named their team. So Pat Martin, Pat Martin, which is led by Team Fierce, Team Wilson, Wyatt. Is that Pat's son? It is. That's doing that. Yeah. How old is he? I don't know. Can I shit talk a high schooler in high school? I think you can. All right, kid, you can. You better better watch it. Now he's in the league. He's in the league. His dad is Pat Martin.
39:17Everything's if you ever everything's not heard Pat not talk shit. Now, I mean, it's kind of his brand. It's kind of his thing. It's kind of his thing. All right. So I came up with some Tennessee Titan themed team names that I'm just going to go ahead and anyone in the league can can grab one of these if they want. If they want, maybe I'll do a personalized one later on. You know, tell me your favorite team for donation. He will make for donation. Donate to Tony's team. He will create a custom fantasy team for you. And just in case you don't want to spend the money, here's a little tease. Here's here's what you can get. Yeah, these are these are freebies. Here's here's freebies. OK. So we'll start with the the one that I you didn't get the reference right away. But so it's Harold Landry, the third, who's our pro bowl. We didn't play last year. He snapped his ACL like this is so good. Harold Landry, the third. He's our wide receiver. Or sorry, a linebacker. Sorry. Yeah, linebacker. Jim Tan Landry. And that is a reference to the Jersey Shore.
40:18Jim Tan Laundry, GTL, GTL. So Jim Tan Landry, Jim Tan Landry. Especially if you have an Italian last name, go ahead and snatch that one up. One one tree, Tannahill. It's just I'm just like, what goes with Hill? And that's just the first thing that I thought of. If anyone doesn't know what that is, it was like a show in the early 2000s. It was like on one tree hill on the CW. Yeah, one tree, Tannahill. But then we but then we realized there's there's an extra Nashville tie in that. What's the guy's name? Gavin DeGraw? Yes. Wrote the theme song on one tree. I don't want to be anything. And he stops, I think, as a part owner of Nashville Underground. Really? I didn't know that bar that honky tonk. I believe so. OK, he was at one point, something like that. One of those places. They've got one tree, Tannahill, our nose tackle, Tierra Tart. Actually, and I look so this guy, how tall are you? Six, six. He's six to how much do you weigh? Two hundred and forty one pounds.
41:19OK, so he's four ounces. He's four inches shorter. He's three oh two. Good God. Listed three. That's a that's a massive big dude. It's a big dude. He clogs some running lanes. OK, Tierra Tart. I just like a big off like defensive line. It's like one of my favorite guys. Always like, OK, Tierra Tart. So his name first name is Tierra T.E.A.I.R. Another ref Nashville reference, Tierra and my beer. Tierra in my beer like that. Yeah, it's a Hank Williams Jr. song. And then another guy on defense, Kevin Byard, my personal favorite. This might be my favorite. He's my favorite. He's my personal favorite. I mean, I do love. Oh, Caroline came up with one for Derek Henry. I'll say that one, too. Derek Henry is like kind of my favorite player in the league. Almost that's not in the bears, but Kingman. But but Kevin Byard is just like awesome. He and his wife ended up coming into Niki several times and just like we chatted with them and they're the nicest people. And I'll just give a real quick, nice little story is that when we closed, like that first three days of like after closing because of covid and every March 20th, yes, every restaurant was just like, let's sell gift certificates because we're going to find the curve and we'll be open in two weeks. Right. That's what everyone thought.
42:36Kevin Byard sent an email, bought a nice gift certificate that I don't even know if he's like redeemed it. He might have. But just sent along him and his wife sent along like the nicest email. That's just like, here's a little something to help you guys get you through. Looking forward to seeing the on the other side. We're big fans. We're just like, God, that guy's awesome. So if you're in the industry, that dude, it's got to be one of your favorite players in the world right now. Yeah. I mean, and hearing that story, I'm like, yeah, I'm a I'm a fan. And he's awesome. Yeah, he hits so high. He's one of those safeties that flies around. It just is awesome. So Chef Byardy, Chef Byardy. Yeah, B, Y, A, R, D. So you can kind of hyphenate the D, the little D there, Chef Byardy. And then the one that Caroline came up with another Nashville reference. So do you know that Derek Henry had kind of the nickname Tractor Cito? It kind of started to get like a little like traction, I don't even know, like on Twitter and stuff.
43:36Basically, the Spanish language broadcast of a Titans game, the announcer, so the home Titans announcer in Spanish started calling him Tractor Cito, Little Tractor, because he's just like, I didn't know that because he's just plowing dudes. Touchdown Tractor Cito. And then so it started like on Twitter and certain podcasts and stuff were like, oh, my God, it's Tractor Cito. So that like, I think one of the early Kenny Chesney singles called she thinks my Tractor is sexy. So my Tractor Cito sexy is another team name up. It's a great one. And those are my five, five. There's at least five people that need team names. See, you know what I like about this is now you're creating value for the donation. There you go. Hey, donate to me. And so we're going to have two winners for the league. The one winner will be the champion and then the other one will be the fundraising champion. So I have two winners and there will be prizes and the whole thing. We have more sponsors. I will tell you right now that this is sponsored by SuperSource. Great. SuperSource dish, machine, chemicals, Jason Ellis.
44:40I told him about this idea and he's like, I'm in, dude. What is it? What do you need me to do? And I said, make a donation to the giving kitchen. He's like, yes, let's go. I'm never not surprised at how amazing this guy is. He just helps. He just he's just constantly there to do things. So SuperSource and a local company. He's he's local right here in town. I think the company is based out of Atlanta. But I mean, he has his own facility here. He has everybody who works here is local. He's the GM here. But like everything is it's not. The other big companies that are owned in Houston, I mean, it's it's or the national companies have no idea who you're just a number to them. You're a person to him. He's easy to get behind. He's the number one person behind me in the studio. I have all the sponsors stuff. More people come in and go, dude, I love SuperSource. That guy's amazing, Jason Ellis. Oh, my God, he's the best. And I'm like, that's your dish machine guy. I've never had somebody come in and go, oh, Ecolab. They're just amazing, man.
45:42I love I love the guy that comes in and works on my Ecolab. Like, nobody says that pretty much. But of all the companies up here, I get that in GFS. But like the main thing is to Jason Ellis, SuperSource. That guy's legit. He's the man. So there it is. That's that's our loan sponsor to date. And we are accepting more. And I've got a bunch of people I'm talking to. I just haven't finalized anything. So I would love to talk about more companies on here. If you're one of those companies that wants to support restaurant workers, that's what we're here to do is to support. This is all fun and games for all of us. We love talking football. But ultimately, our goal is to get the word out about the giving kitchen. And we want to support restaurant workers. So good team names to give our good team names. We got Chris. You're going to go team Holden Bache on this one. Yes. I'm I'm. That's where we were. That seemed like. Yeah, that's like a half an hour. You did your names. OK, yeah. I'm going to I'm going to go with Alyssa on this one. I'm going to go to these are picking the underdog. You're picking the underdog. I like that. If he's the second team listed, he's home.
46:43So it's a home underdog. I'm going team home underdog. All right. We got Pat Martin and Max Goldberg, team Martin and Pat Martin and team Goldberg. This is the largest age discrepancy. What do you mean? And team if Wyatt is. Oh, well, that's consulting closely. Max, not old, though. He's younger than me. No, Max, the young dude. Yeah, he's great. He's got me. I'm going to go Max on this one. Sorry, he's he's the underdog here. He's projected 120. Pat Martin's projected 127. You saw Trevor Lawrence and you got a little excited there. See, I'm not. I saw McCaffrey and CMC's can score five touchdowns in a game and not bat an eye. And he's going to be hurt in three weeks. So I'm going to go CMC because he's such a beast. And it's an opening game. Yeah, they are road favorites. They're playing at Pittsburgh. Just aside from that, if you're gambling, they're the road favorites. But I agree. I think that they're going to be cautious with Purdy at the beginning.
47:43I'm just kind of free freestyle in here. But I think they're going to lean on McCaffrey a lot. I think so, too. That's my that's my take is I'm going to go Goldberg on this one. Where are you picking? I do like I like Pat's team. I think he has more weapons across the board. Got Justin Jefferson, Aaron Jones, Josh Allen. So I hate this. Aaron Jones, Evan Ingram is the running back. Garrett Wilson for Green Bay. And they're playing Chicago. Chicago's front blows. Oh, front four is terrible. Did you have that emotional intelligence to say that? I'm just, you know, I'm still going to act surprised when he when he runs for 150 yards. Be like, how did this happen? How could this possibly have happened? They switch it up so much. Is AJ Dillon still in the Packers? Yes. Yeah. See, they just hand it off. Dillon gets a lot of the goal line carries, too. So I don't know. It's one of those things you're like Jones gets a lot. He catches a lot of passes, but also Jordan Love.
48:43What's he going to do? Yeah. But he does have Ramon Drey Stevenson and they just signed Delvin Cook. All right. You got to make a pick. I'm going to. All right. You want power? We're separate on this one. Yeah. Tandy Wilson and Naima Walker first. Now, here's here's what I'm going to tell you. There's a caveat here. I don't think Tandy set up his lineup yet. Like, I don't think he's gone through and picked the best players he possibly wants. And Naima is her first time ever playing. So this is the rookie battle. This is the battle of the rookies. You have the bosses. This is the rookies. They both have not played before. I'm going to talk to both of them like today and go through and help them set their lineups up. But off the front end, Naima is projected as a massive winner at one hundred twenty two point five and team Tandy at one hundred and seven. He is Jonathan Taylor still in the lineup. Right. Jonathan Taylor ain't playing. Deshaun Watson. So he's going to have Travis Etienne probably starting. He does have. Who's his backup? He doesn't have Jones. I mean, I think he's going to I mean, he's he's going to throw in Travis Etienne or, yeah, somebody.
49:46Montgomery, somebody will go in there as his running back. He's got Khalil Herbert. He's got your guy. As a Bears fan, I would not recommend like Khalil Herbert. Maybe maybe a flex on a weak week. Yeah, so I'm a go team fierce. I think she's got it. I just like she's got. Got just I think Herbert, the X Factor there. I think Herbert could throw for five touchdowns. And Kelsey can catch six touchdowns. He did just if he decides to. That's a true story. And they're playing against Detroit. It's really the only person opening Salvo. I'm going to go team fierce to sorry, Tandy, I'm going to call you today. Last team is Team Ballew versus the Butterfingers. And this is another way out, outmatched team right here. We've got Brian Baxter, team Butterfingers at 59 percent projected favorite at one hundred eighteen point eight points. Alex Blues projected under one hundred and ninety seven. He has already gone on social media and said he's probably going to lose today. This week, he did. He's already announced he's probably going to lose. I think he's playing that role of like the hey, look, I'm not very good at this.
50:49I'm going to lose anyway. But he could the league is one on the waiver wires, in my opinion. You can you can you can, especially if you're moving around your defenses and kind of kickers, fine guys kicking domes, you know, kickers. But he's got a decent team, man. Patrick Mahomes, Derek Henry. He's got Jerry, Jerry, starting three guys that are questions. He's got Judy starting and he's not going to play. Oh, he's not playing, Judy. Oh, yeah, it hasn't projected as zero. So that's going to be a play you can put in. Who else does he have? Yeah. Oh, Dell. Addison, he's got Isaiah Pacheco is a running back. But yeah, Odell Beckham, Junior. Yeah, you put an OBJ. He could do something. OBJ, although it was a great pick because. He could be a top tier wide receiver, we just don't know. I think in the system, he'll do well. Well, ain't nobody else in Houston. I mean, you got Pearson and that's it. Yeah. I mean, he's going to be one of the top guys there. Well, OBJ is on Baltimore. Oh, is he? Yeah, yeah. They're playing. Oh, I saw Houston playing Houston.
51:50They're playing against Houston. He could have a monster game. That's what I'm saying. I would plug him in. I'll call Alex and we'll get him to. I would I would play Colcomet. I think he's going to be the main target for the Bears. We're saving. He's a tight end. You might. So I think this is going to be one of those games is going to shock us. He's going to set that line up and then his team is going to go off randomly. And he's like, oh, look, I won. I didn't I didn't plan on winning. He's got the smallest amount of projected points. Ninety seven projected out of everyone. Are you going to pull it? You're going to go for an upset? No, I think I'm going to pick Baxter. I'm picking Baxter. But my hypothesis next week, we're talking about Alex's crazy week where he had, you know, Patrick Mahomes threw five touchdowns and he got Derek Henry scored three touchdowns. And it's like those two players got him 72 points and the rest of his team did. OK, squeaked past by like two points. I don't think that's going to happen, but I could see us having that conversation. And Baxter has Justin Fields, who could be him. He might be him. He's got Cooper Cup on the bench.
52:50It's Cooper Cup starting. I just read a thing. He went to Minnesota to see a hamstring specialist. That's no good. No, that's not good at all. OK, so that that's the league. Those are our picks. So we will do that. And then one thing that we're going to do is we're going to do a league pick them every single week where we have to pick a different team to win. We're not going against the spread. We're just going straight up. Just pick and win. Just you just have to win the game. Yes. So week one. I'm going to write it down. I know we're going to write this down. I'm picking Washington this week. I think Washington is going to beat Arizona. I don't know if I'm going to. I don't want to pick Washington ever again. So I'm going to pick Washington week one. And it's been noted so far in this. I'm a little bit of a Jacksonville hater. OK, this year, I just think there's too much hype. I haven't. I hate the cult. But I am going to take Jacksonville over the cults. You take Jacksonville over the cult. So I get a route for the cults in person. I think you need to. You get to root for that. Do we have a bet on who's going to last the longest? No, but we need we need to think of something.
53:51Next week, we will come to the table with what the bet is. And hopefully you don't lose this week already. Do you want me to do my parlay for the people? Yes. So also, you're going to give a parlay every week. Every week, a three team parlay against the spread. Heads up. Just straight up. I think just straight up to make it easy. I was trying to think of a name. We're going to call it chef special. The chef special special. I like it. Feel free to bet along if you like. So this week's chef special three league parlay. And I'm putting every week twenty five dollars, my own money, and we're going to we're going to follow it all year and see how see what this twenty five does. See if I can convince Caroline that gambling on sports actually is a. I'm going to pick it up in week three once I know a little bit more. And then I'll make my picks to it. I'll have my locks of the week. Yeah. So this one is actually. All NFC North teams. I didn't happen. I didn't mean it to be that way, but the Bears play the Packers. The Bears are a slight home favorite. They're a one point favorite. It's a coin flip.
54:51I am. I have the same opinion of Jordan Love as I have. Of anybody in green. No, of Trevor Lawrence is set just like he's overhyped. Trevor Lawrence has actually passed the ball more than three things. So I'm going to go Bears. I'm going to pick Kansas City to win and Minnesota to win. And that pays to 20. So my twenty five dollars will pay out eighty dollars. And that is Minnesota to be Tampa Bay. I think that is very easy. And then where's the Minnesota will definitely be. Oh, and then Kansas City. They're a six point favorite. Yeah. And then I think Kansas City is going to stump Detroit. I also think Detroit's very overrated. Kansas City is a six and a half point favorite. And then the Bears one is a coin flip. That's a one. That's what a one point favorite or one point favorite. That's what Ed's value. That's what gets us to plus two twenty in the bet. So let's go. Bears, Vikings, Chiefs, plus two twenty.
55:53Lock it in. Lock it in. All right. It can't lose. That's what we always say, isn't it? I just can't lose. I've literally I don't see any way it can lose. Tony, thank you so much for doing this. Yeah, thanks. It's been awesome. This is fun. Hopefully you're out there. If you don't know anything about fans, hopefully this is something that you've now learned. Oh, we have Naima Walker Fierce calling in right now. Oh, nice. Do you want to see what she has to say? Yes. Let's get her on. Naima, you there? I'm here. How are you? I'm good. You are on the show live with Brandon and Tony. We're talking first caller fantasy football, our first caller. I'm your first caller. Wait, do I win concert tickets or or Titan tickets or something? Doesn't something happen on the radio when you're the first caller? Unfortunately, no. You just get to give your insight and knowledge on fantasy football. Oh, well, this is going to be a very short discussion. So Naima, you are the owner at the German Town Pub and we're excited to have you in the league. Well, thank you. I'm super excited to be in the league. But you know this, Tony would not know this, but this is my first fantasy football league ever.
57:00And frankly, I don't know anything. I got through the initial draft. I thought I did OK. You did great. It is a good team. Yeah, we have to. Well, I realize I don't have anyone on the inter reserve. I need another tight end. And something is supposed to happen on Thursday with those of us in the league. And I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. All right. So here's what here's the deal. There is a football game on Thursday night. You have to have your lineup set. If you have any players who are playing in that game that you want to play, you they got to be in a starting position. If you have them on the bench, none of their points will count if they get points. Oh, no. So right now, I'm just looking at your team. I'm looking at your team right now. You have Travis Kelsey playing Thursday night. You will want to start him. He's in your starting lineup. You're good to go. You have nobody else on your team that could potentially play Thursday night. So you have to do nothing. All you have to do is watch the game Thursday night and everything that Travis Kelsey does, you root for Travis Kelsey. He's your guy. Excellent. I was going to do that anyway. He's actually the highest projected points in your whole team.
58:02So that's yeah, he's your he's your he's your stud. That's going to be playing on Thursday. And now you're playing against Tandy Wilson. So this I call this is also the battle of the rookies, also the battle of Germantown, because we have Germantown Pub and City House. This is for the supremacy for Germantown here today. And this is a big one. Yeah, for at least one week. So I think there should be like there's like a City House flag that you would have to put up at Germantown Pub for a day if you lose. There needs to be a side bet here. Now, Tandy's Tandy's projected at one hundred and seven points. Now he has Jonathan Taylor in his starting lineup. He needs to do some adjustments to it. You're projected one hundred and twenty two point five both in our earlier picks. We both picked you to win this week. Excellent. That's exciting. We also went over team names and you have the your team name is the default name. We're just as team and whatever your last name is. But we decided you should leave it. Because Team Fierce is pretty bad. Team Fierce. So she's Naima Walker Fierce. Yeah. So yeah, it's funny.
59:04I did that on purpose. But then I thought about changing it this weekend. I was sort of like, oh, maybe it should say like Team GTP or Team Germantown. But I was like, yeah, you know, it's a cool name. See how you do this weekend and then see if your team actually is fierce. Yeah. Maybe we can adjust. That's pretty funny, but I like I like that idea. We're going to do it. So I this whole process are you're familiar with the giving kitchen, right? Of course. I just want to say thank you for doing this. And this is a lot of fun. And I think that getting the battle of Germantown is great. And then all of this for the giving kitchen is pretty special. What do they mean to you? Well, I well, I think that, you know, we're in a city that is booming, right. And so often business owners, people who are new to town don't realize that there are still a lot of folks suffering in Nashville and in greater Tennessee. Right.
01:00:08Yeah. Tony could correct me. But, you know, what is it? One in eight Kenesians goes hungry. Right. And as we see the boom and, you know, the tourists and the rah rah that come with this city. My concern is always that people my concern is always that people will forget about, you know, folks that are less fortunate. Right. And those of us in the restaurant community, you know, we have I think we have a particular obligation to be helpful, to write checks where we can when there's an emergency, you know, to cook food. Brandon knows I can't cook to save my life, but I'm always happy to write a check and to mobilize my guys in the kitchen if there's ever like a dire need. Your heart is bigger than anybody I know. I mean, you are always willing to help. And I absolutely love that about you. Oh, thank you, Brandon. I really do. I, you know, I was very involved with a not-for-profit in New York City when I lived there. And we had a soup kitchen. And we used to always stay on on board meeting, give and then give until it hurts. Right.
01:01:14You know, you yeah, you're not giving enough if you can give and sort of not think about it again. So we're going to have a personal link for you so you can raise money for the giving kitchen. And if you want to bet on Naima, if you want to put your money on Naima, that she's going to be somebody in the league. We're going to have this bet this week. It's going to be a smart bet this week. We're going to put that out there and people can jump in and they can donate money to your team name. We're going to have two winners of the league. The person who wins the league and the person who raises the most money. So we're hoping that people will want to jump on board with Team Naima. Naima, you really are one of my favorite people. And I'm sorry to every other chef in the city. Like, I love this. We've never, never met. You've never met her? No. Oh, my gosh. And it's weird because, you know, everyone it's it's kind of documented. My favorite food is buffalo wings. No, is it really? You had the trifecta wings over at Germantown Pub? No, I got to go. It's my favorite food. What time do you have to expo today? You have to go like take you to lunch today when you hang up.
01:02:16I'm going to take you over there right now. We'll go get you some wings. I was actually going to go last weekend, but I will go soon. I'm going to go very soon. I'll take you over there. Yes. It's a very cool spot. We're actually we're entering wing season. Oh, yeah, this is this is the season. She knows. Yeah, yes, so. I would love to know. Yes, we are. I love to know the stats on how many wings you guys sell. We'll not going to put you on the spot. We'll get that number together. I would love to know because they're they're trifecta wings are like world famous. Nice. They're good. Looking forward to it. Yeah. You got it. You got to come by, Tony. Wings are on me. Oh, thank you. I'm just I'm just not going to cook them. I'll take that up. I'll take you up on that. Excellent. Excellent. Well, Naima, thank you so much for joining us on the show. We are wrapping the show up. We're at the one hour mark and good luck this week. And thank you for being in the league. No, thank you. Thank you. And I'll call you Tony. All right now. Bye, Naima. Bye. All right, guys, that's going to be it for our inaugural episode.
01:03:17It was an hour long. We're not going to be an hour long every week. No, I think well, we kind of went over the rules of fantasy. Yeah, well, there's a lot of setup today. There's a lot of setup. We'll get into the meat, potatoes, football stuff. Plus, yeah, hopefully we'll have some more chefs call in throughout the week. Someone to catch up what's going on in their restaurant. So I mean, it'll be this this this show will be you never know what you're going to get. There's going to be some football talk. There's going to be some chef talk. There's going to be some jokes. I don't know. It could go any way you want it to. It's a variety show. I didn't really know. Yeah, we didn't know either. All right. Thanks for listening, guys. We'll see you next week. And we'll have the links up as soon as we possibly can. Sounds good. Bye. Bye.
